We're just days away from a beach party unlike any other. Hipsters, heavy-foots and heathens from around Southern California are invited to join us for yet another function showcasing our baby, Estrus: Shovelin' the S**t Since '87.
ESTRUS TATTOOS! ESTRUS MUSIC! ESTRUS BOOKS! And get those books signed by our distinguished guests of honor slated to speak during our panel:
1. DAVE CRIDER - The man behind the record label and the “drunk/punk” quartet MONO MEN. He wanted me to say “his origami skills are unmatched.” (That should clue you in on what kind of answers you are gonna get when you ask him stuff).
2. DEKE DICKERSON - Deke formed frat-rock icons the Untamed Youth as a teenager back in the mid-80s. He hasn't slowed down since. Accolades aside, you'll want to hear the story of how Untamed Youth, Crider and Louie the Letch threw together what would be the Live from Fabulous Las Vegas Strip album.
3. LARRY HARDY - You already know Larry's In the Red Records cemented its place on the Mt. Rushmore of garage-punk decades ago. What you may not know is that Larry started ITR not too long after Estrus and the pair helped each other immensely in the early days. If you ask a question about Kim Salmon (or the Scientists), you're gonna see a couple of old punkers nerd the f-- out.
4. THE MIGHTY MANFRED - The Woggles frontman has been untethered for nearly 40 years. The Athens ass-shakers put out two LPs and a single for Estrus right when the label was kicking into high hear. Manfred has hosted the Mighty Manfred Program on SiriusXM's Little Steven's Underground Garage for more than 20 years.
5. TIM KERR - Known by most as a saint, part of Kerr's enchanting history includes a period of recording Estrus bands and earning the moniker “Noise Master." His guitar-bearing resume on Estrus includes works with Jack O’Fire, Lord High Fixers, King Sound Quartet, Total Sound Direct Committee, and one-of-a-kind single by Poison 13. For the past several years, Tim has been painting full time and playing guitar in an acoustic duo known as Up Around the Sun.
