’s Yellow Crane EP turns five years old today! 💛

“Hua Li’s Yellow Crane EP is an homage to her maternal hometown of Wuhan, China. The famous tower of the same name inspired many notable ancient poets including Cui Hao and Li Bai. Hua Li’s grandfather, Wang Yun Peng, was a literary scholar who helped guide the restoration of Yellow Crane Tower after the close of the Cultural Revolution.”

’s powerful new song “Gallows” tells the story of Lance Sampson’s great-great-grandfather, Daniel Perry Sampson, who was wrongfully convicted of murder and executed in 1935.

“90 years later, his story still echoes through my family. Gallows is my way of telling that story — turning pain into purpose, and music into memory. On the 90th anniversary of his ex*****on, my family filed an official request to have Daniel’s case reviewed by the Minister of Justice.”
