It’s been quite the journey for De’Aaron Fox, who is expected to be part of the Spurs core for the foreseeable future after being acquired at the trade deadline.

He inked a 5-year, $229 million deal with the Spurs earlier today, pairing him indefinitely with French superstar Victor Wembanyama.

There have been some a number of Utah Jazzmen who have had multiple tenures with the franchise.

There’s current team lead color analyst Thurl Bailey, who spent most of his career with the Jazz, before coming back to retire there.

Greg Ostertag spent one season in Sacramento on the tail end of his career before coming right back as well to close things out with the Jazz.

Mo Williams spent his rookie year in Utah before going to Milwaukee, before spending the 2012-13 campaign as the starting PG with the Jazz.

Kyle Korver was acquired for Gordan Giriček in at the 2008 trade deadline and spent parts of three years with the franchise. He was acquired in a trade with the Cavs eight years later.

And of course Derrick Favors. The centerpiece of the Deron Williams trade spent almost the entire 2010’s with the team. After one season with New Orleans, he was re-acquired and spent one more season with the team, primarily in a backup role to Rudy Gobert this time.

Some then-and-now looks and some of the Hawks players who were Hawks multiple different times.

Headlining the group is Kevin Willis, who entered with the league with Atlanta in 1984 and finished his career with them in 2005.

Of course we have the dunk-king, 5’6 Spud Webb who was a Hawk a few different times as well.

Lou Williams made a pit-stop in Atlanta for a few years in the early-2010’s before finishing things up next to Trae Young and the conf-finals bound Hawks in 2022.

And of course there’s the king of stories, Jeff Teague. He began his career with Atlanta, spending seven years in there. He was shipped back during the 2020 trade deadline, logging 25 games for the team before the COVID-19 stoppage happened. The Hawks were not one of the 22 teams invited to the bubble.

Mason Plumlee (2021-23, 2025-) is the 17th player to join the Charlotte franchise for a second tenure!

The list of multi-tenure Hornets/Bobcats is not as exciting as some of the other ones, but it does run relatively long. A big shoutout to The Last Dance’s Scott Burrell, who finished his career in Charlotte.

To Ish Smith, the great journeyman, who finished his time in the league up with the Hornets.

And of course, who can forget sharpshooter Matt Carroll, one of the Bobcats OG’s, who lost out on winning a title in Dallas by just one season. Triples for days from the Pittsburgh, PA native.

A big return in LA as Chris Paul announces his decision to sign a 1-year deal to play his 21st NBA season with the Clippers.

He spent 7 years with the Clips from 2010-17, averaging a double-double on three occasions.

As Paul returns to a place he used to call home, let’s take a look at all the other players to have multiple tenures with the franchise.

** means that the players missed two seasons due to injury and though they never left, they had a few years in between games suited up.

Bill Walton and Norm Nixon each missed multiple years in a row during their injury recovery, and ultimately returned right to the Clippers.
