I read the parable of the talents recently. Jesus tells the story of 3 servants who were given a sum and one buried it- while the others invested their talents and increased them.

It made me consider the times I've buried what I've been given. I buried for multiple reasons:
Fear
Apathy
Lack of inspiration
Laziness
Distraction

But investing what God has given me looks like:
Digging in
Pushing through
Fighting for ideas
Hard work
Focus

Investing = Faithfulness

"To those who use well what they are given, even more will be given, and they will have an abundance. But from those who do nothing, even what little they have will be taken away."
Matthew 29:29 NLT

Happy Monday friends! Today marks the start of week 2 on chatologie of the daily shine! Last week we asked the question, Who is God? And we answered it with scripture. I love Magnolias.

I go on a 3 mile walk in my neighborhood almost every morning. I have a path and routine that is my favorite. I default to that route, I feel comfortable in that rhythm. But every once in a while, I get the urge to change it up.

My neighborhood is pretty unique. It has some beautiful old homes by the lake, as well as some 1960’s Florida style duplexes just 2 streets over, and to be honest I love the character. I love that every little street has hidden jewels and beautifully expressive landscaping. It’s full of the signs of life- and it brings me joy.

Sticking to the same walking path brings me joy as well, but sometimes we need to diverge from the norm to discover something we wouldn’t have otherwise seen. I’m thinking this week how I can look for moments God may be waiting to meet me on a totally different path than my normal one.

Walk a different route.
Roll down your windows.
Have lunch with a friend.
Do an extra lap around the lake.
Take the kids for ice cream after school.

Look for joy in changing it up. God is with you in these moments too.

Today is the first time in 18 years that I haven't done a First Day of School pic. Instead we had a family breakfast before sending Jack back to Liberty tomorrow. 3 kids in college now- who's life is this?

Happy July everybody! ☀️What are you looking forward to this month? Here are my exciting things:
1. Reading through the gospels with everyday. She's reading in the this month! That's exciting!
2. Outdoor walks ☀️
3. 2 work related trips that will also be fun.
4. Spending some intentional down-time with the ministry leaders at our church .
5. Making strides toward my 2023 health goals.
6. Reading a novel all my friends are raving about!
