We love sprinters. We love bobsledders, too. We especially love sprinters/bobsledders......from Detroit.

Detroit's Lauryn Williams made history when she won Olympic medals in both the summer and winter Olympic games. Last week, Lauryn announced that she's retiring from sports. Here's our interview with Lauryn just after she won the World Championships in the 100 meter dash.

Prize money, anyone? The Martian Meteor 10K and Marathon are offering prize money—over $4000 in the 10K and $3600 in the marathon (must run under 2:25:00 men and 2:50:00 women to be eligible for marathon prize money). Grant Fisher of Grand Blanc High School is Gatorade's 2013-14 National Boys Cross Country Runner of the Year. Fisher is the 2013 Footlocker Cross Country Champion as well as Michigan's DI LP Cross Country Champion. Fisher was surprised with the news at school by 2-time Footlocker champion Dathan Ritzenhein, who earned Gatorade Michigan
Boys Track & Field Athlete of the Year honors in 1999-00 and 2000-01.

Nicole Bush is the national champion in the 3000 meter steeplechase. She won the 9:44.53 at the USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Des Moines, June 22, 2013. Nicole won many state championships as a Wyoming/Kellogsville athlete, was named All-American seven times as a Michigan State Spartan. She will represent the US at the IAAF World Championships in Athletics, in Moscow, August 10-18, 2013. Congratulations, Nicole!

In cool and breezy conditions, Ian Forsyth, age 41, set a new Canadian
Masters record in the 10,000 meter run at the Hillsdale "Gina" Relays,
Friday, April 26, 2013. Ian's time of 30:03 broke a record that has
been standing for almost twenty-seven years. The old record of 30:10
was set by Chris McCubbins in Winnipeg, Manitoba, June 10, 1986.

Ian is a University of Michigan graduate. He works with Running Fit and lives in Ann Arbor.
