Blue Ridge Parkway Update: A few more miles just opened around Boone. Now, a 36-mile stretch is open (blue on the map), Milepost 281-317, Boone to the community of Linville Falls.
From US 421 crossing near Boone, there is a short detour. Follow Old 421 S to the access at milepost 280.9 (near Parkway Elementary School)

Updated Blue Ridge Parkway NC status map! See open sections and time estimates for reopening closed sections with 56 landslides caused by Helene. Near us, the Parkway remains open from Linville to Blowing Rock. Much progress has been made elsewhere, but the repairs are complex and often remote. Towns near the Parkway are open, including Linville Falls (village not waterfall), Spruce Pine & Little Switzerland, so please visit them since they are missing their typical summer rush of Parkway visitors.

Good news: Most of the Parkway from north of Linville Falls to the Virginia line should be open for fall color drives. THANK YOU to the Blue Ridge Parkway staff and contractors!

Note: The yellow construction sections north of Boone are part of the Great American Outdoors Act awarded in 2022. This includes $29 million for a full replacement of the Laurel Fork Bridge at milepost 248.8 in Ashe County and $98 million for a 4-year repaving and rehabilitation project that will span 75 miles from milepost 229.6, just north of Doughton Park, to milepost 305.1, near Grandfather Mountain. The paving project includes repair or replacement of drainage structures, roadbed rebuild, curbs, shoulders, guardrails, overlooks and signage.
