Today the New Glarus Brewing Company won a Gold Medal at the prestigious World Beer Cup for Vintage 22.

Brewmaster Dan Carey has struck gold at the prestigious World Beer Cup for his spontaneously fermented Belgian-style Gueuze, Vintage 2022. This traditional Belgian Lambic specialty is a blending of young and old blonde sour beers that then go through a second fermentation in the bottle. Vintage 22 is a labor of love for Carey who has been making extremely traditional Belgian-style, spontaneously fermented sour ales his entire career.

Dan Carey was the very first Brewer outside of Belgium to embrace the Belgian tradition of spontaneous fermentation, and the New Glarus Vintage Series is his purest expression of that old-world tradition. Inspired by these old-world breweries that draw visitors from around the world for their specific interpretations of traditional styles, Dan Carey has poured countless hours into perfecting his Vintage Series of beers.

Vintage 22 contains beer that has been aging and maturing for over four years and the result of all those years invested is one of the tastiest American Sour Ale that is being brewed today, and a Gold Medal at the World Beer Cup is the ultimate icing on the cake.

Vintage 22 is still available only in the Beer Depot at the New Glarus Brewing Company in New Glarus, Wisconsin. This is definitely a beer worth traveling to the small village to get. Cheers! 🍻
