Alright chaps so this is my current fireplace that I want to install a log burner in.

I obviously want to open the fireplace up and I assume I rip out all that stuff in there?

Stick a concrete lintel in at the desired height?

Hello, I'm Paul and I've been lurking here for a while. I have an old house built in 1940 in Dublin and trying my hand at plastering as part of rehab. Going okay so far but plenty of questions.

I'll be doing a deep dive on plastering onto old rendered sh*te block walls also to see how it's done. Did my first wall and it went off very quick and plater is very questionable on it but it's still up.

So the bungalow I have bought (exchange next week) the flat roof is leaking it appears to be between the main house and the garage.

I was expecting a totally knackered flat roof but when I got up onto it I was surprised.

I decided the first thing to do was clear as much of the crap off as possible.

I also cleaned around the chimney as there was a lot of moss and crap and also noticed the pot was loose.
