Three years ago, today, on my 40th birthday—I made an appointment with a bariatric surgeon.
My whole life, I struggled with my weight.
No matter what I did, I couldn't make it better long term
But in 2020, my weight got totally out of control. I was the heaviest I had ever been.
I wasn't healthy, and I didn't feel good.
My blood pressure was high.
My blood sugar was high.
My thyroid was out of whack (though, to be fair, that happened way before).
I had just been diagnosed with UC.
My knees were killing me.
I needed a change - a jump start.
So during 2021, I set out to get approval for getting a Gastric Sleeve.
I did all the tests and paperwork, the surgeon said he would do it, the board approved my surgery with a caveat - I had to do some work to get my vitamin levels better and work with the dietician.
I did the work.
My surgery took place in November 2021.
It was one of the best choices I have ever made.
Some clients were disappointed in me for getting the surgery.
"Why don't you diet or exercise before you do something like that?"
Duh... like I had never done that before!
"Why don't you take one of the weight loss drugs out there?"
Every drug in that class is not recommended for patients with a history of thyroid cancer. BTW, my mother died from a rare form of thyroid cancer.
Getting surgery is **not** the easy way out.
Having the surgery doesn't mean that you automatically keep the weight off.
It took a lot of work to get to where I am, and I will **ALWAYS** have to work on it.
But I can do hard things! And so can you!
My struggle isn't clutter; it's weight. But I'm not different than someone who struggles with clutter I just have a different struggle.
No matter what your struggle is - organization, time management, and clutter are always going to be something you have to deal with because it is part of day to day life.
If this is your biggest struggle though - you aren't alone.
I created a FB group, wrote a book, made a podcast, and created the Journey to Organization online group decluttering sessions so you would have someone to turn to if clutter, organization, and time management are your issues!
**Life is hard, especially now, but something that makes life easier is less stuff, more organization, and a better understanding of how to structure your time.**
**Join me as I celebrate my 43rd birthday today—and make this the year you take control of your life, too.
It isn't a silver bullet but it's a start, and we all have to start somewhere
Book a session today, and let's tackle your challenges together!**
In case you're wondering—I lost 60 kg, which is roughly 132 pounds, and have been able to mostly keep it off, but it is a lot of hard work!
