The gastronomic guide Taste Atlas, which collects user reviews from all over the world, published a ranking of the 100 best breakfasts in the world — and Turkish breakfast took first place.

🌍 Experts at Taste Atlas noted that Turkish breakfast stands out for its rich variety, social atmosphere, and combination of sweet and savory flavors. It’s not just a meal, but a true cultural ritual.

💬 The publication highlights:

“The word kahvalti comes from kahve (coffee) and alti (before), meaning ‘before coffee.’ In the Ottoman Empire, coffee was drunk after meals, so breakfast is what is eaten before coffee.”

🥗 A classic Turkish breakfast includes: cheese, olives, tomatoes, cucumbers, fresh bread, eggs, börek, bal-kaymak (honey with clotted cream), jam — all of this is usually served with hot tea in glass cups.
