Here’s a simple and authentic Lomi recipe you can try at home:

Ingredients:

500g fresh miki noodles (egg noodles)

300g pork (sliced into thin strips)

150g pork liver (optional, sliced thinly)

100g kikiam or fish balls (sliced)

1 medium carrot (julienned)

1 small cabbage (shredded)

4 cups pork or chicken broth

2 tbsp cornstarch (dissolved in 3 tbsp water)

2 eggs (beaten)

1 medium onion (chopped)

5 cloves garlic (minced)

2 tbsp soy sauce

1 tbsp oyster sauce

Salt and pepper to taste

Cooking oil

Toppings (optional but traditional):

Chicharon (crushed)

Spring onions (chopped)

Fried garlic

Calamansi

🔪 Instructions:

1. Sauté the base

In a pot, heat oil. Sauté garlic and onion until fragrant.

Add the pork and liver. Cook until lightly browned.

2. Add flavor

Stir in soy sauce and oyster sauce.

Add fish balls/kikiam. Mix well.

3. Simmer

Pour in the pork or chicken broth. Let it boil for 10 minutes until pork is tender.

4. Add veggies

Add carrots and cabbage. Simmer for 3 minutes.

5. Thicken the soup

Pour the cornstarch slurry slowly while stirring until the soup thickens.

6. Make it creamy

Lower the heat, then slowly pour in beaten eggs while stirring gently to create egg strands.

7. Add noodles

Drop in the fresh miki noodles. Cook for 3–5 minutes until soft and flavorful.

8. Season

Adjust taste with salt and pepper.

9. Serve

Transfer to a big bowl, top with chicharon, fried garlic, and spring onions.

Best enjoyed with calamansi and chili for dipping

Here’s a Sinigang na Hipon recipe for you:

🦐 Sinigang na Hipon (Shrimp in Sour Soup)

Mga Sangkap:

½ kilo hipon (shrimp), trimmed

1 medium sibuyas, hiniwa

2 medium kamatis, hiwa

1 siling pangsigang (optional)

1 pack sinigang mix (tamarind base) o fresh sampalok kung available

1 labanos, hiniwa ng pahaba

1–2 piraso talong, hiwa

Okra (5–6 piraso)

Sitaw/sigarilyas (about 1 tali), putol 2-inch long

Kangkong (1 tali), hugas at tanggal ang matitigas na parte

6 tasa tubig

Patis o asin (pantimpla)

Paraan ng Pagluto:

1. Pakuluin ang tubig sa kaserola.

2. Idagdag ang sibuyas at kamatis, palambutin ng kaunti.

3. Ilagay ang labanos, sitaw/sigarilyas, okra at talong. Hayaang maluto ng 3–5 minuto.

4. Ibuhos ang sinigang mix (o katas ng sampalok). Haluin at timplahan ng patis o asin.

5. Idagdag ang hipon at pakuluin ng 2–3 minuto hanggang magkulay orange/pink.

> Huwag lutuin ng matagal para hindi tumigas ang hipon.

6. Huling idagdag ang siling pangsigang at kangkong. Hayaang kumulo ng 1 minuto.

7. Tikman at ayusin ang timpla ayon sa gusto.

🌶️ Tips:

Pwede mong dagdagan ng gabi (taro) para mas malapot ang sabaw.

Mas masarap kapag may sawsawang patis at sili sa gilid.
