Harvest From The Deep Harvest From The Deep is a new printed magazine. First issue now sold out! Second issue due September 2015

Harvest From The Deep magazine is born out of sport, fashion, music, and anything else we turn to in order to escape the mundanity and stresses of working life. The title is an interpretation of how, historically, people have drawn upon the depths of the land and the sea in order to live and survive. Whether through fishing and shipping, or through mining and agriculture, and all of which we see i

n steady decline. There are no strict rules at Harvest From The Deep, we will feature our national game at all levels, likewise with music and fashion, and we are open to talk about, review or feature a wholesome and healthy mix of topics by our team of writers and from guest writers, on anything which we think will be of interest to you. Some of the profits generated from sales will go to help our local non-league football club North Shields FC, and we will also contribute to a charitable organisation called checkemlads.com - which was set up for testicular cancer awareness and support. Thank you for coming here, we hope you will consider purchasing our first edition, and we hope you nod in agreement in places, and feel informed or inspired in others. You can let us know your thoughts here or on twitter

The brilliantly talented Hilton Valentine is the only person from North Shields to be inducted into the official Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. That should be celebrated in a big way really, but to rest your weary limbs in a place where he was inspired, is a lovely thing in itself. Did you know that Hilton Valentine, as part of The Animals is the only person from North Shields to be inducted into the official Rock & Roll Hall of Fame - Now that is something unique and worth celebrating in itself. However! you can now help celebrate North Shields 800 and contribute to something which helps mark Hilton's own contribution to music and the love of his home town of North Shields, the place which helped shape the person he became, and changed so many lives as a result. ⚓️ I am very proud to announce that my photography exhibition ‘HARVEST FROM THE DEEP’ will be part of the official North Shields 800 celebrations this year. ⚓️

For the last 10 years, I have been documenting the fishing community of North Shields. I will be displaying this work publicly for the first time, at The Old Low Light Heritage Centre on the Fish Quay, from 22nd July until 30th August.

I will also be hosting an opening evening and will share details of this as soon as I have them.

Free gig by Hector Gannet. Tickets available Friday, set your alerts.

Seriously the best festival i've attended in the UK. So much to enjoy in fantastic surroundings. There are still a few tickets remaining, the stage is inside, the chats and readings are in a magnificent castle nearby. Krankenhaus Festival is in the middle of The Lake District. Also worth noting the superb artists performing, with the inclusion of Hector Gannet on the Saturday, around 1pm. North Shields very own J***y Brown, head honcho of Band Of Holy Joy has some solo material out, including this lovely song about a bird that many take for granted. Maybe the pigeons in 'the square' had a subliminal influence here when J***y was younger.

A song by J***y Brown Cyanotype animation directed, edited, printed and animated by Inga Tillere. 1980 handprinted frames on paper made from disposable cups. Musicians:…

A 2-night rock weekender in a barn at West Benridge Farm, just north of the town of Morpeth. Great local bands, a mix of covers and original music. Spectacular setting, with our very own VDUBSHACK Bar and street food. Camping available in the meadow, just across the road. Motorhomes welcome.
