If you follow me on Instagram you know I've been celebrating since Thursday but today is officially my birthday!

I've said it before and I'll say it again -- if you aren't falling more in love with yourself each year, you're doing it wrong.

One thing that's helped m on my self-love journey -- JOURNALING, of course!

One of my affirmations for the week ahead is this: "I let go of what I cannot change or control and do my best with what I can."

One way I'll do that is by taking time today to plan my week with intention and purpose

You can listen on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Podbean or here:

It's no secret that I'm a VERY BUSY lady. I had three speaking engagements just this week and I have two more next week -- on the same day! Not to mention all the writing and coaching I do each week.

Yet, despite my busy schedule, I still have time to read, exercise, spend time with friends, be a good daughter, and be a good wife. And -- believe it or not -- I have time to rest too!

I've finally figured out how to be booked and busy -- and balanced!

The secret is to have routines that fill your cup and help you get things done.

In this week's episode of The Writeous Babe Podcast, I'm sharing 5 routines that can change your life. And there's also a cameo from Mayor Randall Woodfin to tell you more about one of those speaking engagements I have next week.

Spooky season may be coming to an end soon, but if you reach for spine-tingling reads all year long you definitely want to check out "Pocket Full of Teeth" by Aimee Hardy.

If you don’t like scary stories, don’t fret. My podcast interview with Aimee won’t freak you out. It will inspire you instead as Aimee shares how journaling not only helped her write her novel but also is one of her favorite forms of self-care.

We discuss how journaling can give you permission to allow your voice to take up space and to be curious and playful. Also, Aimee shares why journaling should be seen as a part of your writing practice, not something in competition with it.

I'm engaged! OK, not really. But getting this name tag from First United Methodist Church - Birmingham felt like an engagement ring.

Let me explain. If you follow my IG Stories you know I've been searching for a new church since December of 2022 and as soon as the search began I immediately noticed how it felt a lot like dating.

I haven't officially become a member of First Church yet but I ordered this name tag to put a ring on it -- to signify that I plan to commit -- for real, for real -- soon.

In the latest episode of The Writeous Babe Podcast, I'm sharing how journaling helped me in my church search and what I was looking for in a place of worship. I'm also doing the most with this extended metaphor of church hopping being like dating but I hope you will tune in wherever you listen to podcasts or here: https://writeousbabepodcast.podbean.com/e/church-search/

Are you facing an “ordeal of huge magnitude” right now? If not, you probably will soon or you just did. Because that’s life.

An ordeal of huge magnitude is something that happens and changes nearly every aspect of your life. It can be something devastating like a new medical diagnosis, the unexpected death of a close friend, a divorce, or the loss of a job. It can be something good too, like falling in love or giving birth or adopting a child. But good or bad, your world is turned upside down.

When Juli Brenning faced the ordeal of huge magnitude of a breast cancer diagnosis she turned to journaling. She started writing letters to cancer — which she named Candace, by the way. These letters gave her strength and helped her begin to heal from the emotional scars of cancer.

This week on the Writeous Babe Podcast I’m chatting with Juli about her journaling practice and her new book So Now What? An Immersive Journal. We also discuss how sharing her story helped her find community.

I’d love for you to check out our conversation wherever you listen to podcasts or here: https://writeousbabepodcast.podbean.com/e/ordeal-of-huge-magnitutude/

And here’s a journaling prompt to try:

JOURNALING PROMPT: Write a letter to your ordeal of huge magnitude.

Shoutout to Lauren Packer of Packer Counseling for being my special guest on this week's episode of the Writeous Babe Podcast.

You see, journaling is NOT therapy but journaling can make your trip to your therapist even more effective. In this episode, Lauren shares why she asks her clients to journal during and after each session and how she uses journaling in her own life.

We also discuss all the different ways to journal. Yes, you can write in a pretty notebook with a pretty pen but you can journal with video, voice notes, pictures and much more.
