MINISTER of Defence Ambrose Lufuma has urged former President Edgar Lungu to tone down with his public utterances because of their wide implications.

Mr Lufuma, who is also acting Minister of Home Affairs and Internal Security, said in an interview yesterday that while there will be no sacred cows among those who go against the law of the land, Government has no intention of arresting Mr Lungu.

“Nobody is going to touch him at all,” he said in an interview yesterday.

“However, it is also important that as a former head of state, he has certain responsibilities.

“He cannot just go on a public forum and begin to talk as he wishes because there is a danger that he can cause confusion among the citizenry because there are some people that follow him blindly.”

PETAUKE Member of Parliament Emmanuel Jay Jay Banda has been reported missing under unknown circumstances.

Mr Banda's motor vehicle, a white Toyota Land Cruiser with registration number BAX 3974ZM, was discovered parked by the roadside 2.6 km west of the police station.

The engine was running, the doors were unlocked, the lights were on, and the right side of the windscreen was shattered.

Inside the vehicle, officers found two phones and a written note stating, "Dear Zambians, I am very sorry. Please forgive me and stay blessed. Hon. Jay Banda MP."

And Police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga said preliminary investigations revealed that Mr Banda left his home in Ibex Hill yesterday, May 24, 2024, at 21:30 hours, stating that he was going to a meeting.

He later arrived at his wife's home in Kamwala South near the yellow shop at 22:27 hours and left at 01:00 hours this morning to return to his other wife's home in Ibex Hill to prepare for departure to Petauke for a wedding.

Mr Hamoonga said Mr Banda's wife in Ibex Hill confirmed that her husband did not reach the residence.

"We urge anyone with information related to this incident to come forward and assist with our inquiries. An inquiry file has been opened," he said.
