DOOMSAYER RECORDS — TEMPORARY HIATUS

After a lot of thought, I’ve decided to put Doomsayer Records on a temporary hiatus.

This year has been an incredibly difficult one personally. My wife’s health has been pretty bad, and with everything that comes along with that, I simply haven’t had the time, energy, or ability to give the label the attention it deserves. She is, and always will be, my main priority.

Rather than continuing to push myself to keep up with the label when I don’t have the capacity to do it properly, I think it’s best to step back for a while.

There is one thing I still intend to see through: the One Man Metal digital compilation. Once that is released, Doomsayer will be taking a step back while I focus on my family and figure out what the future holds.

This is not me saying goodbye to Doomsayer. I just don’t know what the next chapter looks like yet, and I’m okay with that.

Thank you to every artist who has trusted Doomsayer with their music, every person who has bought a release, shared a post, listened to an album, or supported the label in any way. I’m incredibly grateful for all of it.

For now, I need to put my energy where it matters most.

Doubleplusungood is a one-man sludge project by Eric E. Crowe, resurrecting material that traces back to the early 2000s.

In 2002, “Loathsome Christ” began as a raw boombox recording from a rehearsal featuring Eric Crowe, Eric Dunlap, Patrick Lowe, and Paul Warren—later released as a limited CDR single. The project resurfaced briefly a few years later with Crowe and Patrick Lowe, recording “Warren’s Dead,” but the material was ultimately shelved.

Originally created under Her Name Is Death—now evolved into a funeral doom project—these recordings remained buried for over two decades.

In March 2026, they were finally completed, mixed, and mastered, emerging as Doubleplusungood’s debut release, Lonesome Christ—a three-track document of decay featuring “Wrath of the Lamb,” “Loathsome Christ,” and “Warren’s Dead.”

This remixed and remastered edition presents the album as it was always meant to be heard. While the original instrument stems are no longer available, we’ve carefully re‑balanced the mix to highlight the vocals and reshape several ambient passages. Two new tracks have been added, and the track order has been subtly adjusted to enhance the flow. The artwork has also been refreshed to reflect the album’s evolution.

Key Changes:
-Vocals: Raised and clarified for greater emotional impact.

-Ambient Elements: Certain textures have been altered or replaced to suit the new sonic landscape.

-Track Listing: Re‑ordered with two additional songs, offering fresh narrative arcs.

-Artwork: Updated visual presentation that aligns with the album’s renewed identity.

A Personal Note from Dave Coats

The heartbeat you hear throughout “Nastasha Rae” is a recording of my son Jaeden’s prenatal heartbeat, captured on my phone during a doctor’s visit. That intimate pulse threads the album together, underscoring its deeply personal nature.

The genesis of this work began in a hospital room, moments after my wife passed away. In the raw shock of that loss, I sat beside her and began writing the first two songs. After saying a quiet goodbye, I drove home, completed the remaining lyrics, and started laying down the instrumental tracks while grappling with overwhelming grief. This process forged an album saturated with raw emotion—a testament to love, loss, and resilience.

Happy New Year from all of us at Doomsayer Records and .radio !!

2025 was a really fun year! We had a few compilations and a handful of really good releases this year. We got the radio station up and running. I met a ton of really cool people, super talented bands and a lot of new friends. I know that I made some mistakes and as a one man business, I know that's going to happen, and I'm sorry. I learn from my mistakes and shortcomings to try and become a better label. I'm thankful for this past year and all I've learned and all that I've met. May the coming year be good and kind to you all!!
