MAKING OUT IS
OUT OF SIGHT!
(Song lyrics)
By Larry O'Hara
Monday through Friday's
are all right...
Hanging out with the gang
day and night...
But Saturday's are Ladies'
Night!
And making out is
out of sight!
Playing ball then swapping
stories Sunday night...
Then back to school again
on Monday...
Gotta get it right...
So we can hang out again
Monday through Friday
night...
Down at the Mom and Pop
store day and night...
Till Saturday night...When
it's Ladies Night!
Off to the drive-in again
for lots of loving tonight!
Where making out is
out of sight!
I say making out is
out of sight!
Gotta get it right!
No hanging out at the
store tonight...
The drive-in's up tight...
Fogged up windows
blocking out the lights!
And making out is
out of sight!
Living and loving the
Fab Fifties again...
All the stuff we did while
becoming men...
Girls galore...Gotta get me
some more...
Monday through Friday's
are all right...
Hanging out with the gang
day and night...
But Saturday's are Ladies'
Night!
And making out is
out of sight!
I say Saturday's are
Ladies Night...
And making out is
out of sight!
No hanging out at the
store tonight...
The drive-in's up tight!
Fogged up windows
blocking out the lights!
And making out is
out of sight!
I say making out is
out of sight...
Marilyn and Bridget are
onscreen tonight!
And making out is...
Making out is...
All....I say making out
is all...all...r.i.g.h.t!
Yeah!

IS IT POSSIBLE TO CREATE
"A WORLD OF OUR OWN"?
*************************
(An /// INTERLINK Review)
By Larry O'Hara
Imagine being able to create your own world simply by writing it or speaking it.
People, places, things, even the kind of love you wish for--simply by mentally creating them.
Writers have always created situations and characters, but not ones that literally come to life.
The closest we've come to making the characters and stories seem real is in Hollywood movie productions. Which are, of course, just film.
More imaginary creations, using actors and actresses.
However, it is possible to create real characters by design. God does it on a continuing basis. Life stories starring real people.
Rod Serling used a Twilight Zone TV episode to depict a playwright who could design characters and bring them to real life. Even his own love mates.
The playwright, Gregory West, creates Mary, a lover of his own design. Simply by describing her into a dictaphone.
Trouble is, his wife, Victoria, sees him with Mary through a studio window.
Which creates a world of problems that Gregory can change only by rewriting his love life, so to speak.
Which he does and presto! Victoria vanishes. Replaced by the new Mrs. West, Mary.

Episode Summary
Coming home, Victoria West (Phyllis Kirk) spots her husband, playwright Gregory West (Keenan Wynn), through the window sharing a drink in his study with Mary, an attractive, affectionate blonde. When Victoria barges into the room, Mary is nowhere to be found.
Gregory explains to his wife that any character that he describes into his dictation machine will appear according to his description. To make it disappear, all he has to do is cut out that portion of the tape and throw it into his fireplace.
He demonstrates this, first with Mary and then with an elephant in the hallway.
Believing none of this (despite seeing and hearing the elephant), Victoria tells Gregory that he is insane and she is going to have him committed. In response, Gregory pulls a section of tape from his safe and explains that it contains her (Victoria's) description.
Victoria snatches the tape away from him and throws it on the flaming fireplace to prove he is insane, and promptly begins to feel faint. "You don't mean you were telling the truth?! You were right!" she cries, and disappears as the flames consume the tape.
Frantic, Gregory rushes to his dictation machine and begins to re-describe Victoria. He quickly reconsiders and instead describes Mrs. Mary West as his wife. Mary reappears and mixes her husband a drink.
Twilight Zone writer Rod Serling then appears on the set and says, "We hope you enjoyed tonight's romantic story on The Twilight Zone. At the same time, we want you to realize that it was, of course, purely fictional. In real life, such ridiculous nonsense could never—"
"Rod, you shouldn't!" interrupts Gregory, who walks over to his safe and pulls out a tape marked "Rod Serling". "I mean, you shouldn't say such things as 'nonsense' and 'ridiculous'!" he continues as he throws the tape into the fire.
"Well, that's the way it goes," replies Serling, in a resigned tone as he fades away. Just as Victoria did.

MY HOW THE TIME FLIES--
TODAY VS 70 YEARS AGO
By Larry O'Hara
Today, year 2021, I look around me and see an iPad, an Echo screen featuring a virtual person named Alexa, and a flat screen TV showing retro re-run cartoons from as far back as the 1950's.
Devices that are nothing like what I grew up with.
IPad's did not exist. Neither did Amazon Echo boxes or flat-screen TV sets. So-called high tech has taken over our lives.
Back in the 1950's you watched movies either in walk-in theaters or in outdoor drive-in theaters. You went to them. Instead of them coming to you.
Nowadays, they come to you and you watch couch potato style, on your sofa. Like a recluse. No mingling with other movie going people.
No chance meetings with old friends from school while at theaters.
No concession stands. You pop your own popcorn and cook your own hotdogs.
No more "It's Intermission Time!" Cartoon clips with animated food and drinks dancing on the big screen.
High tech has taken the fun out of entertainment.
The closest thing you can find to drive-in theater fun nowadays is watching old drive-in theater films from the 1950's.
Fast food places still exist, but no more curb-side service from waitresses carrying trays of goodies to your car window.
Concerts still exist. But no more sock hops for high school teenagers.
Life goes on work-wise, but most of the good old days style fun has been taken out of entertainment.
Friendships have been reduced and confined to so-called "social media" sites. Dating has become paid dating service sites. It's getting harder to sing, "I got you, Babe."
And the list goes on. And on.
The Electronics Age is both literally and virtually sucking the enjoyment out of life. Every which way you turn.
We have gone from being a fun-loving world of mingling people to a world of high-tech bound and controlled hermits.
Will the New Way Of Life last? Or will people everywhere come to their senses? Reverting back to enjoying outdoor life events. And casting aside electronic controls.
Choosing once again to enjoy life in person rather than become a "user name" with constantly changing required passwords.
Scientists use mazes to control mice in laboratory experiments. High tech giants are using electronic media to control everything people buy and do. Sadly without most people even realizing their fate.
Vast differences exist between the 1950's and the year 2021. Are they good or bad? You decide. Or let everything be decided for you.
Just like it is being done right now.
