Walk through Groningen. Hear the echoes of Europe.

To mark Europe Day (9th of May), we invite you to discover how centuries of European history have shaped the streets and landmarks of Groningen.

From religious reform and colonization to socialism and education, Echoes of Europe explores the events and ideas that shaped the city’s identity across the centuries.

Developed by three Euroculture students, this self-guided audio tour features expert insights from historians at the University of Groningen and the Groningen Archives. Together, they shed light on the city’s colonial legacy, Jewish heritage, socialist movements, and more—revealing how local spaces reflect broader European transformations.

Whether you’re new to Groningen or have lived here for years, this tour will help you experience the city through a new lens.
