Due to unforeseen medical complications that our fearless leader David K Montoya is courageously overcoming, all JayZoMon/Dark Myth Company activities are temporarily on hold as we eagerly await his triumphant return to full health and his desk, pain-free. This means that The World of Myth Magazine and the Zombie Works Anthology are delayed, but we remain steadfast in our commitment to these projects. Please join us in sending thoughts and prayers his way as he battles through infection and debilitating pain, while journeying toward healing from his back surgery. Call for Submissions: Shadows in the Ravens Eye: A Reimagining of Poe’s Tales

Shadows in the Ravens Eye: A Reimagining of Poe’s Tales is an anthology that honors Edgar Allan Poe. We want short stories that reinterpret his legends with fresh angles, but keeping with his style and atmosphere. Keep the dread, the obsession, the unreliable minds. Surprise us with setting, voice, or twist.

What we want
Reimaginings of Poe works: for example The Tell-Tale Heart, The Raven, The Black Cat, The Fall of the House of Usher, The Masque of the Red Death.
Original stories that clearly echo Poe’s tone, themes, or motifs.
Strong prose, tight plots, unsettling mood.

What to avoid
Parody or comedy.
Erotica beyond a Rated R tone.
NC-17 content, our printer contract does not allow it.

Submission guidelines

Length: 2,000 to 3,000 words.
File: .doc format, double-spaced, 12 pt font.

Formatting: underline and bracket words that should appear in italics; this helps in editing.

Content rating: PG-13 to R.

Simultaneous subs are fine; tell us at acceptance if it is under consideration elsewhere.

Payment and distribution
Payment: twenty cents per book per author.

Distribution: Myth Mart, Amazon, Goodreads, Barnes and Noble, and other online retailers.

Deadline
September 15, 2025.

We at Zombie Works Publication are ready for 2024, and are currently seeking short stories it go into our ALL-NEW Monsterthology 3! Yes, it’s back for a third time for a new volume! Like the previous two anthology, we are looking for short-stories that involve classic horror movie monsters (Dracula, the Wolfman, Frankenstein, you know classics).

We request that all submissions be in a .doc format, double-spaced, and 12 pt font, which is standard format. Underline all italicized words, or they could be missed in editing and not put in print.

We are asking for each story to be between 2000 to 3000 words in length, and content must be between a Rated “PG-13” to Rated “R”. Please no NC-17 (Rated X) stories. They will be rejected as our contract with the printer does not allow us to produce that sort of content.

The deadline is August 31, 2024.

Zombie Works Publications will pay twenty cents per book per author: Also, the book will be carried by Amazon, Goodreads, Barnes ans Noble and other online carriers.
