India’s aviation growth is taking off, and Airbus is preparing for a major decade of deliveries. ✈️🇮🇳

With a backlog of 1,200+ aircraft, Airbus expects deliveries to India to average around 120 aircraft a year over the next decade, equivalent to more than two aircraft every week.

With 500+ Airbus aircraft already operating in India, the manufacturer continues to hold a strong position in one of the world’s fastest-growing aviation markets.

The next decade could see India’s skies get a whole lot busier. 🚀

Akasa Air takes flight to Hanoi 🇮🇳✈️🇻🇳

Akasa Air has launched its inaugural Mumbai–Hanoi service, marking a new milestone in its international expansion journey.

Hanoi becomes Akasa Air’s 7th international destination, further expanding the airline’s footprint across Asia and giving customers greater choice and connectivity.

The maiden flight was celebrated at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport and Noi Bai International Airport, with special boarding passes and a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony attended by dignitaries, Akasa Air leadership and representatives from the aviation and airport ecosystem.

A new direct connection between Mumbai and Hanoi, strengthening the air bridge between India and Vietnam.

🚨 AIR INDIA TERMINATES PILOT AFTER POSITIVE PSYCHOACTIVE SUBSTANCE TEST

The Pilot-in-Command of an Air India Phuket–Delhi flight tested positive for a psychoactive substance.

Air India said the pilot’s employment has been terminated with immediate effect, citing its zero-tolerance approach to violations of safety, fitness and regulatory requirements.

A serious mid-air incident involving an Air India Airbus A320 has raised major safety concerns after the aircraft experienced the near-simultaneous loss of all three hydraulic systems at 36,000 feet.

The resulting autopilot disconnect, stall warning and altitude upset injured 24 people.

The AAIB’s preliminary investigation report is released today and has also recommended action against the pilot-in-command following a positive post-landing drug test.

An IndiGo aircraft operating flight 6E 225 from Navi Mumbai to Srinagar was involved in a ground incident at Srinagar International Airport after coming into contact with a VDGS pole while being positioned at Bay No. 6.

The aircraft sustained damage to its nose section. All passengers and crew were safe and deboarded using manual stairs. Airport operations continued normally, while the circumstances are being examined by the appropriate authorities.

MUMBAI–HANOI CONNECTIVITY GETS A BOOST

India–Vietnam air connectivity is set for a significant expansion, with both IndiGo and Akasa Air adding direct services between Mumbai and Hanoi. 🇮🇳🇻🇳

✈️ IndiGo will launch a daily nonstop Mumbai–Hanoi service from 25 October 2026.

✈️ Akasa Air is set to begin flights to Hanoi from Mumbai on 4 September 2026, making it the airline’s seventh international destination from Mumbai.

The new services will provide travellers with more direct options between Mumbai and Vietnam, supporting tourism, business and growing India–Vietnam connectivity.

Akasa Air has taken delivery of another Boeing 737 MAX, with VT-YBT landing at Navi Mumbai International Airport, marking the airline’s 12th aircraft delivery of 2026.

August proved to be a record month for Indian aviation fleet additions, with Indian carriers collectively receiving 9 brand-new aircraft. IndiGo added five A321neo aircraft, Air India inducted one Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, while Akasa Air added three Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.

The latest delivery also highlights the growing role of Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) in supporting Akasa Air’s rapid fleet expansion. The airport’s newly commissioned infrastructure is now being utilised for direct aircraft factory acceptances, marking a significant milestone in NMIA’s commercial operations.

With 226 Boeing 737 MAX family aircraft on firm order, Akasa Air continues to build one of India’s fastest-growing fleets.
