Kensington Residential Partners 1 Limited (KRP1), the company behind the hotel, owned equally by businessman Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as Cheddar, and his partner Azad Cola, has broken its silence following reports that a court has cleared the way for a receiver to take possession of the facility.

In a press release dated July 23, 2026, the company dismissed suggestions that the hotel has been handed over to a receiver appointed by Cola Holdings Ltd.
According to Management, "Oxford No. 1 Hotel remains under the control and possession of its Management and Directors."

The 7-day window

KRP1 admits the court did grant an order on July 21, 2026, appointing a receiver and authorising the police to assist in taking possession. However, the company insists the order "does not take effect until seven (7) days after the date of the order," and that period has not yet expired.

The company says it has already instructed its lawyers to appeal the decision and to file applications to block Cola Holdings and the receiver from taking possession until the appeal is determined.

How the beef started, according to KRP1
The company traced the dispute to the financing of the hotel. The project was funded partly with a loan facility from the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the World Bank's lending arm.

The hotel opened in December 2019, but according to the statement, the Covid 19 pandemic from 2020 "prevented it from trading at a level sufficient to service the IFC facility."

While Management was negotiating with the IFC to restructure the loan, the release alleges, Azad Cola, through his company Cola Holdings Ltd, wrote to KRP1 claiming he had personally repaid the loan in full to the IFC and demanded that KRP1 reimburse him.

But here's the bombshell claim in the statement: "To date, neither Azad Cola nor Cola Holdings Ltd has produced any evidence that the IFC loan was in fact repaid."

"They want to collect the money twice"

KRP1 further revealed that two previous applications filed by Cola Holdings on the matter were thrown out by the High Court, a decision that is now under appeal.

The company also accused Cola Holdings of pursuing the same amount from two different sources at the same time, going after KRP1 in one case and Cheddar personally in a parallel case. "Management does not believe the courts of Ghana will permit such unjust enrichment," the statement said.

The company urged the public to "disregard the false impression created by the recent press coverage" and await the outcome of the appeal.

Nigeria and Ghana have jointly called for the recent anti-African protests in South Africa to be discussed at the next African Union (AU) summit, following talks between the two countries' foreign ministers on the sidelines of the ECOWAS meeting in Liberia.

In a joint position, the two countries condemned what they described as "Afrophobic protests targeting African nationals in South Africa" and urged the AU to adopt a coordinated regional response.

They also proposed stronger continental mechanisms, including monitoring, early warning systems and preventive diplomacy, to address similar situations.

Abuja and Accra said the protests run counter to the African Union's principles of unity, solidarity and regional integration.

The discussions came after weeks of anti-immigrant protests and violence in South Africa, where thousands of foreign nationals have left the country.

South Africa has historically attracted migrants from across the continent because of its relatively stronger economy, a factor that has periodically contributed to tensions over immigration.

Nearly 1,500 Nigerians and about 1,000 Ghanaians were repatriated after anti-immigrant groups issued a June 30 deadline calling on undocumented migrants to leave South Africa.

Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has warned Attorney General Dr. Dominic Ayine that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will return to power in 2028 and will jail NDC officials, especially the Attorney-General Dominic Ayine.

Speaking on the floor of Parliament on Thursday, July 23, after Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson presented the 2026 Mid-Year Budget Review, Afenyo-Markin mentioned that some NPP MPs were being targeted for criticising government decisions.

"You are thre+tening Members of Parliament with prosecution. Let me serve a warning to the Attorney General. Be careful. 2028, you will be in opposition," he said.

The Minority Leader said a future NPP administration could subject current officeholders to similar legal processes.

"If you are not careful, if you don't stop now, you will go and meet Wontumi there, and Wontumi will be out, and you will go in," he said.

South Africa has rejected an International Criminal Court (ICC) petition filed by two Ghanaian nationals over anti-migrant violence, describing it as "opportunistic" and saying it does not meet the court's legal threshold.

The petition, submitted by former Ghanaian government spokesperson Palgrave Boakye-Danquah and security analyst Emmanuel Kotin, asks the ICC to investigate what Reuters described as a "pattern of widespread and systematic attacks" against foreign nationals and alleges South Africa failed to prevent or punish those responsible.

Pretoria said its judicial system is capable of addressing any unlawful conduct and that those responsible for violence would be held accountable under South African law. The ICC had not indicated whether it would consider the petition at the time of publication.

The filing follows weeks of anti-migrant protests, including calls for stricter border controls and the removal of undocumented migrants.

Guys, this story is one of those situations where you read it and wonder how a relationship matter ended up becoming a court case.

This young man, Bismark Aduah, is currently at Winneba Local Prison after what he describes as an attempt to take back belongings he had bought for his girlfriend, Rebecca Badu.

According to him, he and Rebecca had been together for nine years and had lived in Ashaiman for the past two years.

But he claims their relationship was not accepted by Rebecca’s mother.

Speaking to Cr!me Check, Bismark said the issue started when he and Rebecca went back to her mother’s house to collect their belongings.

He said they broke the door and lock to enter the room and later moved the items to Rebecca’s father’s house.

That decision led to a complaint by Rebecca’s mother, and both of them were arrested.

Bismark said the Afransi Court later sentenced him to five months in prison and fined him GHC1,560.

He has already spent two weeks in custody but says he has not been able to pay the fine to secure his release.

Rebecca was also sentenced to one month and two weeks, but Bismark said he paid her fine so she could leave prison.

He explained that, from his side, he was only trying to retrieve items connected to their relationship, but the matter eventually turned into a legal issue that left him behind bars.

So this man from Nigeria says he's fed up with living abroad and after just four years in the UK, he packed his things and headed straight back home, yeah - just like that.

The man posted a video showing his final moments in the UK, beginning with him at the airport with his luggage before boarding a flight.

The footage later showed views from the aircraft and scenes from the terminal after his arrival, marking the end of his stay abroad.

He explained in the video that he decided to leave because he no longer saw the UK as a place worth staying, although he did not share details about the factors that influenced his decision.

Evidently, the drama in the family of the late Apostle Prof. Emeritus Ing. Kwadwo Safo is far from over.

Now, the family is saying preparations for his burial have stalled because they have not been given custody of his body, accusing former Dome-Kwabenya MP Sarah Adwoa Safo of preventing its release.

In a statement issued on Thursday, July 23, 2026, the family said the remains of the Kristo Asafo Mission founder are not in the possession of those assigned responsibility under his will, making it impossible to proceed with the funeral.

The family also disputed funeral dates of July 30 and 31, 2026, announced by Adwoa Safo, saying the dates were not approved by the recognised custodians responsible for organising the burial.

According to the statement, relatives initially sought to resolve the matter through discussions after Adwoa Safo reportedly indicated she was willing to engage. However, they said the meetings did not produce an agreement.

The family further alleged that Adwoa Safo's legal representatives later communicated that she would cooperate after GH¢3.7 million had been paid, a condition they say has further delayed the burial arrangements.
