President Mnangagwa urged parliamentarians to embrace technology

SADC Chairman President Mnangagwa has said technology can bridge the gap between parliamentarians and citizens in their geographically dispersed constituencies.
Officially opening the 57th Plenary assembly of the SADC Parliamentary forum in Victoria Falls today ,President Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa said for SADC Parliaments the benefits of artificial intelligence and innovative technologies are multi-pronged offering solutions for resource optimization which will in turn enable parliament to achieve greater results.
“The Fourth Industrial Revolution characterised by a fusion of emerging technologies is blurring the lines between the physical, digital and biological sectors.Cyber physical systems have proliferated in all facets of society and economic activity within Africa and beyond anchored on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and innovation.
“For SADC parliaments, the potential benefits of Artificial intelligence and innovative technologies are a multi prolonged. These offer solutions for resource optimization, which in turn enable our Parliaments to achieve greater results, "said President Mnangagwa.
President Mnangagwa also said the government of Zimbabwe under the Second Republic through the Whole of Government approach”, is scaling up the integration of digital solutions into its governance frameworks.
“The Government of Zimbabwe, through the Whole of Government approach”, is scaling up the integration of digital solutions into our governance frameworks.Todate Zimbabwe has established Innovation hubs and industrial parks across all our universities. These centers of excellence are advancing our technological agenda and remain at the forefront of our innovation efforts.
“Zimbabwe has enacted the Cyber and Data Protection Act to protect data security and ensures fairness in data related to, and services driven by Artificial Intelligence .Additional legislation and governance frameworks to address the ethics ,accountability and cybersecurity bas affected by Artificial Intelligence ,are also under consideration, "said President Mnangagwa.
President Mnangagwa also reiterated that cross border technology sharing and investments must also be encouraged towards strengthening inter-connectivity and the lowering of tariffs for the benefit of the people across the region.
The Theme for this year’s event was ,”Harnessing Artificial Intelligence for Effective and Efficient Parliament Processes in the SADC region :Experiences ,Challenges and Opportunities.”

President Mnangagwa has said government under the Second Republic will continue to support the resilience of the people so that they can produce what is needed and compete at both regional and global levels.
Giving his keynote address at the Commissioning of the New National Foods Production Facility in Harare today ,President Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa said the new plant demonstrates the commitment by National Foods to job creation and skills development which are all vital for inclusive economic growth.
“The new plant demonstrates the commitment by National Foods, to job creation and skills development, which are all vital for inclusive economic growth. At the heart of this project is our ongoing pursuit of food security and improved nutrition.
“ Increased local food production ensures that our communities have reliable access to nutritious food, aligning with our agricultural development goals. It is vital that we grow what we eat and eat what we grow, taking control of our food systems for the well-being of our people.
“It is commendable that as a country, we have realised self-sufficiency in the production of wheat, which is a key raw material in the production of pasta. This notwithstanding, our country currently consumes about 5,000 tons of pasta per month, most of which is imported,”said President Mnangagwa.

The completed facility reflects the visionary leadership and work culture under the Second Republic being spearheaded by President Emmerson Mnangagwa which showcases corporate prudence that has seen strategic investment.

President Mnangagwa has also reiterated that the production facility is a beacon of efforts towards economic development and industrialisation.

“This marks a new chapter in the food processing sub sector, driven by innovation, and technology. Well done, congratulations to you all. Makorokoto, Amhlophe. This production facility is a beacon of efforts towards economic development and industrialisation.
“ It embodies our collective ambition of building a self-reliant and prosperous Zimbabwe, sector by sector. As Zimbabweans, we can harness our own resources, to foster the growth of local agro-industries through value addition and the requisite support to our farmers.
“Through this initiative, we are advancing our vision of building a diversified and sustainable economy, where value addition thrives and industries drive economic growth for the benefit of all Zimbabweans,”said President Mnangagwa.
The Head of State and Government also commended the Board and shareholders for their confidence in the policies of the Second Republic and the prevailing conducive business environment.

”I commend the Board and shareholders for their confidence in the policies of the Second Republic and the prevailing conducive business environment. “Today’s developments speak to the ever growing need to value-add our plentiful agricultural produce, strengthen our economy and support the livelihoods of our people.
“We are witnessing the commissioning of three major investments: the large-scale breakfast cereals extrusion plant; the biscuit manufacturing line; and the pasta facility,”said President Mnangagwa.
These projects are aligned with the Zimbabwe Industrial Reconstruction and Growth Plan, National Development Strategy and the broader national Vision 2030.
The modern breakfast cereal plant has targeted capacity of 800 tons per month and is indeed a game-changer with a targeted investment totalling US$7 million.

Zimbabwean story is one of hard work says President Mnangagwa

President Mnangagwa has said the Zimbabwean story is one of hard work and resilience.
Giving his Keynote address launching the Zimbabwe Media Policy,President Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa said the Second Republic regards both the public and private media as strategic cogs towards achieving the national development aspirations and Vision 2030.
“The Zimbabwean story is one of hard work and resilience amid adversity, such as the illegal sanctions and climate change. It is a narrative of the people’s victory, for our Independence, and sovereignty, as well exposing and shaming our country’s detractors.
“The true and undiluted Zimbabwean story is about us the people who are masters of our own destiny. The media must influence Zimbabwe’s national brand and strategic image in manner that reflects these core characteristics. Further, I challenge our media to be also aware of the role it plays in advancing our national interests within the comity of nations through purposeful and focused engagements, guided by our Foreign Policy.
“ I call upon our content creators and all the stakeholders in the sector to help create and showcase our natural and cultural treasures. Riding on modern technologies, as well as leveraging digital platforms, I urge you to craft appealing messaging and imagery that attracts both local 10 and foreign capital, investments and tourism, among other socio-economic benefits. “Let us, therefore, move forward with determination and unity, empowering our media industry to be a shining beacon for inclusivity and national pride, that advances our national interests and celebrates being Zimbabwean,”said President Mnangagwa.
President Mnangawa also said the National media policy will go a long way in is strengthening and guaranteeing that citizens will have access to factual ,accurate, and reliable information.
“We are the custodians of our own stories and narratives. For far too long, our narrative has been deconstructed, distorted and misrepresented. As we implement the Media Policy, let us reclaim and correct this anomaly.
“A truthful, coherent and positive story of Zimbabwe will consolidate our national peace, unity and accelerate our development. The time has come for the world to hear the authentic story of who we are and what we stand for, from our own eyes, from our own mouths and from our own media and the people of our motherland,”said President Mnangagwa.
President Mnagagwa also reiterated that government continues to implement several development programmes and projects to consolidate the gains of democratising the media space and environment.
“To date, my Government continues to implement several development programmes and projects to consolidate the gains of democratising the media space and environment.
“ Community Radio Stations have been licenced, which have proved crucial in revitalising the indigenous languages and cultures of our great motherland, Zimbabwe. By sharing traditional knowledge and fostering community participation, Community Radio Stations are helping to preserve and promote our rich heritage and identity. Capacity-building programmes to guarantee the efficacy of these and other stations, will be supported by my Administration.
“It is commendable that the modernisation of Zim-papers is now at an advanced stage. The project aims to make Zim-papers more competitive in the digital age, improve news delivery speed and meet the ever-evolving needs of our audience. 8 Under the 2nd phase of the Zim-Digital Programme, the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation studios in Bulawayo at Montrose have been digitalised.
“Funds have also been set aside to develop content creation hubs, which will result in modern media organisations and empower our creatives to produce diverse, high-quality content for a competitive local media industry,”said President Mnangagwa.

President Mnangagwa has said the nation’s cultural divesity is not a source of division but a wellspring of strength and unity.
Giving his keynote address at the Launch of the Culture month in Tshovani village Chiredzi today , President Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa said the launch of the National Culture Month commemorations is in line the Second Republic’s heritage-based Devolution and Decentralisation Agenda.
This year’s commemorations where being celebrated under the theme , “Celebrating Indigenous Voices”.
“Our cultural diversity is not a source of division but a wellspring of strength and unity. Under the Second Republic, we have rolled out various programmes and activities to encourage the use of Indigenous languages within Zimbabwe, as one unitary state.
“By amplifying indigenous voices, we are honouring our past and also paving way for a more inclusive and sustainable future. Through embracing our different cultures, we tap into the potential of all communities and march ahead towards a modern, industrialised and prosperous Zimbabwe.
“It is commendable that the National Culture Month commemorations involve participation of all our people from the grassroots level, in our 10 provinces. This is in line with our heritage-based Devolution and Decentralisation Agenda. Sehurumende yeZANU PF, tinoti, hakuna munhu kana dunhu rinofanira kusara kumashure,”said President Mnangagwa.
President Mnangagwa also reterated that Culture is an unshakable foundation and cornerstone of sustainable development.

“All communities have a role to play to ensure the growth and popularisation of cultural and creative sector products and services. Culture is an unshakable foundation and cornerstone of sustainable development.

“Tinokutendai Madzimambo edu, ndimi munochengeta tsika nemagariro edu. Munobatanidza vanhu nekukurudzira runyararo mumatunhu akasiyana-siyana.
“The preservation of our culture requires more than just ceremonies and festivals. Let us deliberately work to ensure that our cultural practices are passed down to future generations, beginning at the household level. Mhuri yega-yega ngaikoshese tsika dzedu. Let us teach our children and young people our cultural values and traditions,”said President Mnangagwa.
The Head of State and Government also underscored that under the 2025 National Budget Government allocated significant resources so that the creative and cultural industries foster economic growth and promote job creation.

“From the Government’s side, we stand ready to invest in education, infrastructure, and the arts as well as to support initiatives that promote cultural preservation and the creative industries. We will continue to empower our artists, musicians, and cultural practitioners, in recognition of their contribution to our national identity, image and pride as the people of our motherland, Zimbabwe.

“This is reflected in the 2025 National Budget, where Government allocated significant resources so that the creative and cultural industries foster economic growth, job creation, peace, unity and social cohesion.
“Funds have also been set aside to establish, renovate, and equip culture centres across the country. These centres will serve as hubs for preserving and promoting Zimbabwe’s diverse cultural heritage, including traditional music, dance, art, and crafts.
“Additionally, the development of film studios to boost the local film industry, along with funding for infrastructure, equipment, and capacity building programmes for filmmakers, are being supported and prioritised. The production of indigenous content in film, television, and digital media, should ultimately amplify Zimbabwean stories, languages, and diverse cultures,”said President Mnangagwa.

President urged officer corps to safegaurd territorial integrity

President Mnangagwa said the graduation ceremony demonstrates that the Zimbabwe Defence Forces continue to inject new officer corps into the force to play their part in safe-guarding the country’s hard-won Independence and territorial integrity.
Giving his keynote address at the Commissioning Parade of Regular Officer Cadet Course 3/40/23 in Gweru, President Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa said the Regular Officer Cadet Course remains one of the most physically and mentally demanding military courses enabling graduands to deal with demands of the complex modern battlefields.
The Head of State and Commander-in-Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces also commended the Zimbabwe Defence Forces that has taken bold strides to raise the number of female officer cadets enrolled at their strategic military institutions.
“The Regular Officer Cadet Course remains one of the most physically and mentally demanding military courses, enabling graduands to deal with demands of the complex modern battlefields.
“This graduation ceremony is yet another demonstration by the Zimbabwe Defence Forces to continually inject new officer corps into our Forces, well equipped to play their part in safe-guarding our hard-won Independence, freedom, sovereignty and territorial integrity.
“It is praiseworthy that the Zimbabwe Defence Forces has taken bold strides to raise the number of female officer cadets enrolled at our strategic military institutions. By so doing, you are tapping the inherent potential of women to also contribute to our national defence, peace and security effort,”said President Mnangagwa.
The startegic twenty-one months long military training covered critical courses such as Skill at Arms; Fieldcraft; Command and Leadership; Military Law; Law of Armed Conflict and Civil Military Relations, among other aspects.
President Mnangagwa also call upon the younger officer corps as well as service men and women across the defence forces of SADC to continue guarding jealously the rich liberation heritage of cooperation and unwavering solidarity.
“You, the new crop in our militaries, have the weighty duty to be guarantors of regional peace and security. Never take this lightly and remain guided by our long standing regional mantra, “an injury to one, is an injury to all.
“Ongoing efforts by the Zimbabwe Defence Forces to improve the Zimbabwe Military Academy as a centre of military excellence are commendable. Notable in this regard, is the introduction of a Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Military Science and Leadership, which officer cadets now undertake concurrently, with the military phase of training,”said President Mnangagwa.
The initial enrolment of the 250 officers were drawn from the Zimbabwe National Army, Air Force of Zimbabwe and two from Umbutfo Eswatini Defence Forces.

Let us remain united and focused says President Mnangagwa

ZANU PF First Secretary and President Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa has said the nation must remain united and vigilant against those who wish harm over Zimbabwe.
Addressing mourners at the burial of National Heroes ,the late Brigadier General (RTD) Victor Rungani and the late Cde Walter Basopo, President Mnangagwa said much more work must be done and the mantra leaving no one and no place behind can only be achieved through unity.
“Today, we stand proud that we are enjoying our Independence, and experiencing sustained economic growth, with Vision 2030 is in sight and achievable ahead of time. However, much more work must be done.
“We can only maintain this steady progress and prosperity that leaves no one and no place behind, if we remain united, focussed and 13 vigilant against those who wish harm over our motherland, Zimbabwe.
“Nyika inovakwa, inotongwa, inonamatirwa nevene vayo/ Ilizwe lakhiwa, libuswe, likhu-le-kelwe, ngabanikazi balo. This national development philosophy must remain our key motivation, now and for generations to come,” said President Mnangagwa.
The Head of State and Government also took the opportunity to urge the youths to take a leaf from the departed national heroes in pushing forward and work harder to realise the sustainable economic prosperity of the nation.
“The youth in particular must push forward, and work harder to realise the sustainable economic prosperity our nation must achieve. The youth of yester-year achieved their dream of a free and Independent Zimbabwe.
“Young people from all over our country, the ball is now in your court. You all have a duty to realise development that uplifts our communities. My Government will continue availing you with the requisite empowerment support for sustainable projects.
“To the late retired Brigadier General Victor Rungani and retired Director Walter Basopo, our decorated senior officers, you will be remembered for your immense contribution to the Liberation Struggle as well as the post independent period. You wholeheartedly served our country with unflinching loyalty, patriotism, consistency and persistency. You will be dearly missed,” President Mnangagwa.
The late National Hero, Cde Victor Rungani was attested into the Zimbabwe National Army in 1980 as a Lieutenant Colonel and appointed Commanding Officer 4.2 Infantry Battalion in Gutu.Brigadier General (Rtd) Victor Rungani also served as the Commanding Officer Mechanised Regiment from 1982; Technical Staff Officer Grade One Electrical Mechanical Engineering Services Corps between 1984 and 1987, 10 Colonel General Staff, until 1991 and Director Electrical Mechanical Engineering between 1991 and 1994.
Cde Basopo joined the President’s Department in November 1980, under the Internal Branch, at the rank of Trainee Intelligence Officer. After completing his initial training at the now Robert Gabriel Mugabe School of Intelligence, the late Cde Basopo served at the Gweru, Chinhoyi, Guruve and Harare offices.

SMEs are a key driver of economic growth says President Mnangagwa

President Mnangagwa has said his administration under the Second Republic recognises that SMEs are a key driver of economic growth and broad-based empowerment.
Giving his keynote address at the Official opening of the Mbare market Phase 1 and commissioning of the second phase, President Emmerson Mnangagwa said the importance of Small and Medium Enterprises Sector to the growth of the economy cannot be over-emphasised as it stands as one of the critical pillars of the economy in Zimbabwe towards the realisation of vision 2030.
“The importance of Small and Medium Enterprises Sector to the growth of our economy cannot be over-emphasised. It stands as one of the critical pillars of the economy, contributing significantly to the total Gross Domestic Product.
“My Government, thus, recognises that SMEs are a key driver of economic growth, job creation, wealth creation and broad-based empowerment. Earlier this week, I attended the 11th Session of the Africa Regional Forum on Sustainable Development in Uganda, as Chairman of SADC. As leaders of Africa, we discussed the importance of driving job creation and economic growth, particularly through our young people and women.
“I, therefore, challenge the entrepreneurs of our country to scale up the establishment of small businesses and start-ups in line with emerging trends and digital technologies,” said President Mnangagwa.
The Head of State and Government also said government is ready to play a pivotal role in supporting solutions and new products related to agriculture and climate technologies that propel the industrialisation agenda.
“As a Government, we are ready to support solutions and new products related to agriculture, financial and climate technologies among others that must propel the industrialisation of our country.
“The facilitation of more opportunities and windows of support such as low interest financing, business development services, transfer of skills and technologies as well as market access for the sector, will be availed. Collaborative synergies between those in the SMEs sector and relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies are of critical importance towards the formalisation of small businesses and start-ups.
“As we continue to diversify our economy, the formalisation of this sector must never be viewed as a direct threat to the survival and sustainability of your respective businesses,” said President Mnangagwa.
President Mnangagwa also reiterated that government will continue to improve the ease of doing business through reducing barriers to entry as well as streamlining business registration and compliance levies.
“On its part, my Government will continue to improve the ease of doing business, through reducing barriers to entry, as well as streamlining business registration, licencing and compliance levies.
“Dialogue with the SMEs sector is an essential building block for enhanced business productivity. There should not be ‘a them and us’ mentality. Government and the sector must act as one, for the good of our motherland, Zimbabwe.
The Ministry of SMEs is challenged to deploy innovative initiatives that will see more SMEs become fully fledged business entities with footprints beyond our country and the SADC region,” said President Mnangagwa.
Meanwhile, President Mnangagwa’s administration is determined to see the realisation of the ‘Urban Transformation Agenda’ and the programme is designed to primarily focus on addressing rapid urbanisation by prioritising safe, inclusive, resilient and sustainable cities and human settlements, in line with Sustainable Development Goal Number 11.

Corruption is an enemy of development says President Mnangagwa

President Mnangagwa has said Corruption is an enemy of development and Zimbabwe under the Second Republic will not tolerate it.
Giving his keynote address at Zimbabwe Accountants Conference, President Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa said the duty of accountants is to speak out and refuse to be complicit in fraudulent activities.
The Head of State and Government also take the opportunity to urge accountants to act with propriety and fiduciary in the fight against corruption by upholding the principles of transparency and good governance.
“Corruption is an enemy of development, and it is incumbent upon the accounting profession to take firm stand against it .Zimbabwe will not tolerate corruption.
“As accounting professionals, you are in almost every facet of our economy, including government institutions, private corporations, financial services and development projects. You see the numbers.
“You know when financial irregularities occur. It is therefore, your duty to speak out and refuse to be complicit in fraudulent activities. I urge you to act with propriety and fiduciary in the fight against corruption by upholding the principles of transparency, accountability and good governance,” said President Mnangagwa.
President Mnangagwa also challenged accountants both in private and public sectors to be trustworthy gatekeepers of national resources.
“ I Challenge you, the accountants in both the public and private sectors, to be trustworthy gatekeepers of national resources. Every dollar spent must be accounted for.
Government programmes and private sector investments in infrastructure, healthcare, education, mining and agriculture must yield tangible benefits for our people and a competitive return on investment for our investors.
“I therefore, expect this profession to stand as a pillar that will guarantee quality service delivery and products, as well as the requisite financial prudence and fiscal discipline in all entities within our country
“I am aware that the migration period from cash accounting to the accrual-based international Public Sector Accounting Standards, under the Roadmap for Zimbabwe’s Public Sector, lapses by the end of 2025.
“I urge all public sector entities that are lagging behind to diligently put measures in place to ensure that they implement this initiative by the deadline.
“Additionally, various initiatives to strengthen the Public Sector, through the professionalism of the public sector accountancy personal, should be scaled up. Again, I urge our public sector entities to take advantage of programmes being offered by the Public Service Academy, the Public Accountants and Auditors Board as well as other professional accountancy organisations ,in order to build contemporary accountancy capacity in the Public Sector,”said President Mnangagwa.
President Mnangagwa also said there is an urgent need for stronger regulation in the accounting and auditing profession.
“As Zimbabwe progress, there is an urgent need for stronger regulation in the accounting and auditing profession. Loopholes that allow financial mismanagement, illicit financial flows, and corporate fraud must be closed with no exceptions. “We must ensure that financial professionals operate within the highest ethical and professional standards, in line with the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC} Code of Ethics.
“Integrity, discipline and ethics must define the Zimbabwean accountant. I therefore challenge the Public Accountants and Auditors Board and other regulatory bodies to strengthen all oversight mechanisms that govern your profession. Our economy cannot afford manipulation of financial reports, money laundering and tax invasion as these malpractices erode investor confidence and derail development efforts,” said President Mnangagwa.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has said government is keen to share perspectives with different diplomatic missions on the policy thrust as well as priority areas to propel the modernisation and industrialisation of the country’s economy.
Giving his keynote address at the New Year reception for Heads of Diplomatic Missions accredited to Zimbabwe at State House today, President Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa said Zimbabwe stand ready to draw lessons from different diplomatic missions towards bettering the lives of the people and accelerating social economic prosperity among states.
“My Government is therefore keen to share perspectives with you on the policy thrust as well as our priority areas .We stand ready to draw lessons from different jurisdictions you represent towards bettering the lives of our people and accelerating social economic prosperity of our respective countries.
“Your Excellences as you are aware our government set out a national vision to become an empowered and prosperous upper middle income society by 2030.This has resulted in various political and legislative reforms as well as the implementation of broad array of people centred projects to guarantee household food security improve incomes and develop creative core enablers propel the modernisation and industrialisation of our economy,” said President Mnangagwa.
President Mnangagwa also said Zimbabwe have improved incomes and higher standards of living for the grassroots communities through the village business units concepts.
“My Government introduced the concept of village business units and nutritional gardens under the presidential drilling programme we are drilling boreholes to all our 35 000 villages .We thus invite missions to partner these initiatives from the perspective of training and capacity building as well as value addition and sourcing of export markets as we promote market driven productivity .
“Under our agriculture transformation strategy and village business units concepts Zimbabwe have choose improved incomes and higher standards of living for our grassroots communities and to also contribute to global food security and nutrition for our people,” said President Mnangagwa.
President Mnangagwa also challenged the heads of diplomatic missions to promote investment along related value chains and pursue investments in the mining sector and other sub sectors of the economy.
“I therefore challenge you Your Excellences in your respective missions to promote investment along related value chains .Zimbabwe is a friend to all and an enemy to none .We are open for business and your nationals are welcome to pursue investments in our mining sector and other sub sectors of the economy.
