Another project we worked on was this great campy sendup of Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte call Hush Up Sweet Charlotte. It was brought to us by my friend from the Uncle Cookie days, Mark Sargent who stars in the film and wrote the theme song, which we recorded and mixed at Catasonic.

We are very excited about Ann Magnuson's show on March 18 at the Steve Allen Theater. She will be joined by her dream team backup band Joe Berardi, Thee Millionaire and Marc Doten.

(This is the last show there, since they are tearing down this legendary theater to make room for some of that density stuff we're hearing about)

In 2017 We will be entering our 20th year as a studio. In an effort to celebrate the 20th anniversary, I plan to post pictures and stories from our 20 years of working with bands, musicians, filmmakers and artists. Look to our Catasonic page to see these over the next several months.

To kick things off Here is a photo of our studio when we lived near MacArthur Park in the late 80’s

This was our studio in the front bedroom on Oceanview Ave. We lived upstairs from Joe Berardi and Kira Vollman, and belated apologies to them, we probably were making way too much noise.

Pictured is my first Mac. I learned about music software on the Mac from Gary Todd. I went to a store in West LA called Personal Support Computers and bought the Mac and an Opcode MIDI interface along with version 1.00 MIDIMac Sequencing software. (later to be renamed Vision) It was all MIDI at that point, but we synced the computer to our ½" tape machine for live recordings of vocals and guitars. This was 1985. We immediately started trying to compose music for some of our filmmaker friends including Richard Casey, who was doing “Hellbent” and Jon Reiss who made a short film titled "Baited Trap". We also did bumper music for The Cutting Edge with Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris. We actually filmed off the mac screen for a waveform they used in the title sequence. We are very excited about the response to Ann Magnuson's new CD "Dream Girl". This is the third project we have worked on at Catasonic. The previous projects were "The Jobriath Medley" and "Pretty Songs and Ugly Stories"

Ann is currently performing at MOMA in New York and plans a return show in LA in November.
