Happy Bandcamp Friday 🦇 The Breathing Light just released their fourth full length album and 12” vinyl debut, In the True World 👻🎶 One of my favorite things about this band is their willingness to explore and experiment with their sound. This album moves seamlessly through dream pop, goth rock, trip hop and raw punk in a way that only The Breathing Light can make sense of ⛓️✨

The Breathing Light started up in Alabama in 2008 and relocated to Chicago in 2010. Kyle was one of the first people I met in the music scene around the time I first moved to Chicago and I’ve been following The Breathing Light’s music ever since. It’s been cool to see the band grow and learn about how they work. For instance, Kyle played most of the instruments on this album and recorded it all himself. He even learned to play violin, saxophone and I’m pretty sure cello for this album. The band’s lineup has changed over the year’s but Kyle stays true to keeping the band all Black and always says “as long as they can play, I can teach them” when it comes to learning the songs. I love the DIY ethos of the band and I’m proud to be able to help press their music on vinyl.

I’ve been working with Kyle and Psychic Eye Records on this record for a while now and I’m happy that we can finally share it! It’s only streaming on Bandcamp for now so head over to the Don’t Panic Bandcamp, give it a listen, and pick up a copy 💌✨
