iConcept Press iConcept Press is a multidisciplinary publishing company who helps academics make their work visible and accessible to diverse audiences around the world.

Starting from 2015, a new publication track called "Lecture Notes" is launched, so as to separate with the name of our existing collections. Lecture notes are similar to books but focusing on a much specific topic. The position of a lecture note is between a book and a journal paper. No publication fee will be involved and hence materials in this track will not be open accessed. Subscription fees

is required to access the Lecture Notes. Two kinds of subscription is available: personal subscription and institutional subscription. You may find more information HERE

In January 2015, after five years of operations, we reviewed our business model and believed that we have to re-position ourselves. While most people agreed that they pursue the open access model, the support we received from the academia at-large is rather little. Even though we have a very tough review process, we still found quite some criticisms on the Internet, mostly accusing us of "publish for money - if you paid, you can publish whatsoever". You will know such statement is wrong if you are one of our authors or if you have a paper rejected by us. Some people even put us into a list called "predatory publisher", which is unbelievable and hurt. Having said that, we do fully appreciate and thank you the contributions of all our editors, authors and reviewers, regardless of whether or not you have paid any publication fee. It is very difficult to find people who are not only agreeing but also supporting what we did. Once again, to our authors and reviewers - Thank you. For the already published books and journals, they will be reminded as open access. iConcept Press is guided by the following major principles:

- Financial Fairness. We believe everyone should have access knowledge, regardless of monetary status. It is unfortunate, however, that many scientists in poor countries are unable to afford them. In light of this, most of our publications are open access. Because the company cannot survive without income, authors are billed a certain amount for article processing. However, this fee is waived if one or more authors of a paper are from low-income countries. In addition, if all the authors of a paper are experiencing financial difficulties, the publishing fee may be reduced, even if they are from the First World.

- Wide Distribution Channel. All our books and lecture notes are distributed through a number of online bookstores such as Amazon.com and Kindle. We also try our best to list our books in libraries and academic institutions.

- High Quality. A peer review system is set in place to ensure the quality of all the articles included in our books and journals. Typesetting each article is done with the utmost care. We set the highest standard of excellence in everything we do: in content and style, in editorial performance at every level, in transparency and accessibility to the scientific community and the public, and in educational value.

- Internationalism and Open Access. Our books and journals are published under the Creative Commons Attribution License (i.e., an open access license) that allows unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited and credited. We want to build a public library that provides unrestricted access to scientific research, ideas, and discoveries. We aim to be a truly international organization by providing access to scientific literature to anyone, anywhere, and through publishing works from every nation.

Protein Purification: Principles and Trends

Proteins are biochemical compounds consisting of one or more polypeptides. A polypeptide is a single linear polymer chain of amino acids bonded together by peptide bonds between the carboxyl and amino groups of adjacent amino acid residues. Protein purification is the process of isolating a few proteins from a complex mixture, such as a cell or a tissue. It is an important step for identifying functions, structures or interactions of the protein of interest. Protein Purification: Principles and Trends discusses several current and important issues related to protein purification.

Selecting a good supplier to cooperate in the supply chain is crucial to companies. It is apparent that companies have to manage in an era of global competition. Today’s buyers hope cheaper price, high quality products, on-time delivery, and excellent after-sale services. And which is forcing many firms to rethink their business strategy. Achieving this starts with supplier selection. Therefore, an efficient supplier selection process needs to be in place and of paramount importance for successful supply chain management. The main contribution of this lecture note is providing a platform architecture which can negotiate not only quantitative attributes but also qualitative attributes employed fuzzy logic.

Immunotherapeutic Approaches for Neurological Diseases: Natural Monoclonal Antibodies and Conventional Monoclonal Antibodies

Immunoglobulins with germline sequences occur in invertebrates and vertebrates and are named ‘natural antibodies’ (NAbs). They may target foreign antigens, self- or altered self-components and are part of the normal immunoglobulin repertoire. NAbs can act as systemic surveillance molecules, which tag damaged or stressed cells, invading pathogens and toxic protein aggregates for elimination by the immune system. Certain NAbs actively signal in different cell types with a broad range of responses from induction of apoptosis in cancer cells, stimulation of remyelination in glial cells and blocking disease propagation in neurodegenerative disorders. This lecture note emphasizes the different functions and characteristics of NAbs and their use as potential therapeutics in multiple sclerosis (MS) as an example for neuroinflammatory diseases. Within neurodegenerative diseases we will focus on Alzheimer’s disease as the best investigated disease for immunotherapeutic approaches. We will highlight the role of the blood brain barrier (BBB) as the major obstacle for antibody based therapies of CNS diseases and stress on some novel approaches to lower the hurdle.

In iConcept Press, self-plagiarism is strictly prohibited. We will not publish any work that has committed self-plagiarism. If the idea of your work is the same as a published work (even the wordings are rephrased), we may considered it as self-plagiarism. Unless you have obtained written approval from the publisher whom published your work, we will not publish a work which is suspicious of self-plagiarism.

A common question we always received: how different is different? We usually said: if the idea (not the wordings) of two works has at least 30% different, then plagiarism usually does not apply, because one work could be regarded as an extension/expansion of the other work. The meaning of new idea is not simply the addition of proofs, tables or figures, but is the addition of some solid content materials. A good reference is from ACM TODS "30% Rule".

Even if a piece of work is authored by you, you may not necessarily be granted to reuse your work, either in full or in excerpts; otherwise you may have committed self-plagiarism. Self-plagiarism can infringe upon a publisher's copyright. If you are not sure what is self-plagiarism, you may refer to a white paper by ithenticate - The Ethics of Self-Plagiarism
