The Hammond Police Department is currently investigating a shooting incident that occurred outside of Nick’s Liquors, located at 4607 Calumet Avenue, at approximately 8:30 p.m.
This was the result of an altercation that took place inside of the business. Two male subjects were shot during the incident. One victim sustained gunshot wounds to the chin and shoulder. This victim was a bystander and not involved. They are in stable condition. The second victim, who was shot in the chest and hand, has been pronounced deceased.

We urge anyone with information about this incident, and who may have been in or near the business at the time, to contact Hammond Police Department Detective Schafbuch or Miller immediately at 219-852-2906.
