David Adickes, the artist best known for his Texas-sized sculptures of presidential busts and historical figures, died on Sunday night at age 98. He was born in 1927 in Huntsville, where his 67-foot-high statue of Sam Houston still stands, visible from the freeway, to welcome passersby to his hometown.⁠ bit.ly/3ItpoNK

Declared this Sunday, July 6th, as a Day of Prayer in Texas in response to the floods in the Hill Country.

7:30 pm Update:
Game Wardens have been able to gain access to Camp Mystic and are evacuating campers who have been stranded on site.

Some families have been reunited but search and rescue continues. There will be a press conference with Gov Abbott at 9 pm, which can be live-streamed on the Texas Division of Emergency Management page:

Additionally, Cross Kingdom Church at 3044 Junction Highway in Kerrville has been set up as a supply location. Specifically, they are requesting children’s clothes of any size, along with food or water donations. If you are in need, you can pick up these supplies here. We are also working on identifying a secure place to financially donate.

Previously:
Every available resource has been deployed to the devastated Hill Country. Hundreds of first responders are on the ground, helicopters from surrounding areas are running search and rescue missions, and the National Guard has been deployed. Texas Department of Emergency Management is coordinating local, state, and national efforts.

Please pray for the affected residents and the safe rescue of all who are still missing. Camp Mystic has been deeply affected and we are fervently praying for the safe return of all campers and staff.

In our House District 19, low-lying areas of Comfort are being evacuated and a a shelter has been set up at Comfort High School.

The rain is continuing and is moving east. Those near waterways and flood-prone areas, please take all necessary precautions. I will continue to post updates as we have more information.
