Finally figuring out this Spreecast thing... we're so close to having shows! Now all I need to do is hook up my headset when I'm recording so it doesn't sound like a never-ending echo...

So, it's been almost a full month since I've updated anyone on our progress here. I guess it's time to admit defeat, right?

WRONG!!!

It's just time to admit I'm slow and broke and can't get all my crap together in a timely fashion...

BUT, solutions are on the way! In fact... I should have some new hardware today. I have a new hard drive for my main computer coming in so I can take one of my other drives out and use it in another desktop which will power the broadcasts for RHR. I've also got a new power port coming for the laptop I'll be using for Skype sessions for recording each show, so I'll be able to charge it without duct-taping the power plug in place. :D

Also, the RHR website is nearly complete! The layout is all finished, it just needs content. You can take a peek at the site now at http://www.righthandedradio.com!

So it's been a while since I've been able to do anything with this. Work has been ridiculous lately. But I believe I have a line on a new computer that will allow me to get this off the ground. Haven't figured it out for sure yet, but I'll know soon.

Sorry for the lack of communication lately... I've been absolutely slammed at work this past week, so when I've been home I've been trying to unwrap my brain from around itself and relax. Next week I should be a bit more productive, at least starting out the week... My wife and kids will be out of town, they're leaving Sunday if I remember right... so I'll be bored to death home alone at night until Wednesday. lol.

Want to be a part of the show?

Right Handed Radio is new, and as such, we don't really have all the quirks sorted out just yet. But we're also excited about the opportunities we see opening up with this new outlet. So rather than sit on our hands and do nothing while our technical crew (as in, me...) attempts to figure out how to do everything "professionally"... we're going to start out by recording our shows via Skype off-air and then broadcasting them on a set schedule. However, since we're on Skype, this allows us to take calls during the recording! To find out when the shows will be recorded, or if you just want to listen to us live and uncensored (which could be scary and/or unintentionally hilarious), be sure to check in here on the Right Handed Radio page, and our soon-to-be-released webpage at RightHandedRadio.com. So, in the course of working on this whole radio setup, I've made an unfortunate discovery... With my current audio hardware on this computer, I can't quite make this work the way I want to. The one attempt I made that was close ended up with me yelling at my computer in frustration when I couldn't play any sound out of my speakers afterwards...

At the moment I'm contemplating some other options for the short term. I think I know what will be necessary... now I just have to get the rest of the peoples involved on board with it.

Speaking of peoples... I've been informed, quite correctly I might add, that I left someone out of our list of talk show hosts. That's right... it won't be just four hosts... it will actually be five. Although they may not all be full-time participants, depending on how scheduling things work out and all. All things that will be worked out in due time.

Our fifth host will be Pamela Faber! As the only woman of the group, she'll be in charge of keeping the rest of us guys in line... she'll be our own personal Sarah Palin, lol.

Man, if we could snag an interview with Palin... Oh, sorry, daydreaming a bit here...

Anyways, Pamela will most certainly keep us guys on our toes, which is good, because we all probably could use the exercise. Lol!

Now that I've finally shut down for the night and finished up with my testing, I've got some more information to pass along on what we're doing here with Right-Handed Radio.

For starters, the idea for RHR came about because of a talk show idea, which in turn originated as a side joke between friends. We would kick the idea around in private messages here and there, and every once in a while the crazy idea would come up in the general conversation and people would generally laugh along with us, but not in a "ha-ha, that's so funny" way... more like a "Dude, that would be totally AWESOME!" way.

Well dammit, I happen to agree. That WOULD be totally awesome.

So here it is... the platform from which said total awesomeness will arise... along with other total awesomeness from other friends who want to share the airwaves with us. (Is it airwaves if it's all over coax cable and fiberoptic lines...?)

Now, I know I've been saying a lot about this talk show idea. Well, mentioning it a lot... but not really saying anything too detailed about it. The honest truth is... I don't have any details, really. All I can tell you is that, at this time, we have four guys who want to do a talk show. Maybe it will only be one show. Maybe it will run for five years. Who knows.

Oh! But I can tell you who the four guys are... 'cause that much I do know! :D Well, obviously, one of them is me. No big surprise there... you see how long my Facebook posts are??? Talking is my forte, lol. The second person in this crew (and the one with whom most of the behind-the-scenes banter took place) is Luis Sandoval, otherwise known as the Right Handed Cartoonist. (Yes, the station name is a play off his pseudonym... I'm not very creative on the weekends. lol.) Third on the list is Thomas Saulsbury, he of the quick wit who almost always beats me to the punch on funny responses to a Right Handed Cartoonist Facebook post. And last but most certainly not least, we have Mr. Timothy Furnish, he of the mighty intelligence and utterly astonishing amount of knowledge, here to add some class to the joint.

How this all comes together is anyone's guess... but with a little luck and a little help from above (probably a lot more of the latter than the former), anything's possible! I mean hey, the worst that can happen is the whole thing blows up in spectacular fashion and we all laugh about it later, right?

Hello there everyone!

Ok, so admittedly, the cover art is lame-sauce. I know this. I needed something quick and dirty... and that's exactly the extent of my Photoshop capabilities. (That's what my wife is for... to actually make nice graphics for me.) But we haven't even decided on the look for this stuff... so who knows if it's gonna stick. We may take a vote on it... sans voter fraud!

Anyway, thank you all for your support on this. I'll be the first to admit, I don't think any of us who are involved in this project have any friggin' clue exactly how this is going to work, if it'll work, or how things will play out. I have a feeling this will end up being a successful endeavor, provided our tech guy doesn't screw it all up... (That would be me, by the way.)

Right now if you were to tune into the station, you'd probably hear a lot of clickety-clackety noise. That's because I'm typing this while live on the air, as I'm currently testing out settings and trying to figure this whole thing out. I still don't have my own broadcast set up reliably yet, and I have no idea how to have more than one host on at a time... much less take phone calls... oy vey, this is going to be interesting... Anyways, bear with me whilst I set things up. I'll post up here when we're finally up and running for real.

I have a feeling I'll be investing in some hardware if this takes off... which is fine by me, 'cause I like geeky techie stuff. :D
