Official Statement from The Sebastinian Publications
USE YOUR VOICE! DEMAND ACTION!
We denounce the corruption within the Department of Public Works and Highways, especially in its flood control projects. Billions wasted, lives endangered, and trust betrayed. We demand transparency, accountability, and action. The flood may drown our streets, but not our voices.
The Philippines is recognized as a crossroads for typhoonsโan archipelago always under meteorological havoc. While corrupt politicians and contractors flaunt their riches, the Filipino masses are suffering; homes are ravaged, schools are being flooded, and leptospirosis is on the rise. Noble taxpayersโ money is being plundered from what is supposed to protect usโactually functional flood control infrastructures.
These contractors and politicians are using the noble work of public service as a facade for flagrant misconduct and fraudโdeceiving us, Filipinos, and corroding our trust. They are not only stealing taxes, but also stealing an upright and competent future from the youth.
Therefore, the Sebastinian Publications calls upon the Filipino people, especially the youth, to make a stand against the blatant corruption transpiring within our government. Being politically aware and vocal is not only a social responsibility, but also a moral obligation; it stems from the Augustinian values of justice and solidarity.
We, youths, may not have the political power to end this blatant exploitation, but we have the power to persuade the masses to fight for what is right simply by speaking out, voicing the truth, and exposing them to their crimes. By remaining silent, one becomes complicit in their wrongdoingโperhaps without realizing it; it is their only weapon in this crisis, and our voice is our power to combat this institutional decay.
We are not only being flooded by waterโwe are flooded with poverty, flooded with corruption, and flooded by unethical governance. We must put an end to this kleptomania.
