FEATURE | Iranian Carpet House
Like their page - Persian carpet man

My name is Hussein Asghari. I am from Persia (Iran). I arrived in Cape Town, South Africa in 2009 with my wife and my two sons. I started my “Persian Carpet Man” business in Kenilworth. It was a very successful business for four years. I relocated to Belvedere Road, Claremont where I have been for 6 years now.

In Iran, at 15 years of age, I was working in a carpet shop and one day a master weaver visited the store. He asked who was responsible for such exquisite weaving. My employer replied that it was me. He could not believe his eyes; such a young boy with only 6 months experience could be so talented. He invited me to come and learn with the masters in Tehran.

My speciality is repairs. Customers come to me with their beautiful Persian carpets, where their dog has eaten through the carpet, and I can fully restore the design, by hand, here at my store in Claremont. So don’t discard your old Persian carpets - bring them to me, I will restore them and hand wash them and they will be like new! A Persian carpet can take years to weave by hand. Yours may be an antique!

I can give you an evaluation and tell you all about your carpet and where it comes from. The work that goes into weaving a Persian carpet will probably take two people a couple of years, so a Persian carpet is something you should treasure in your home. It will bring luxury, comfort and joy to any room in your home.

I have brought my craft and my expertise here to South Africa. You are welcome to come to my store in Claremont to look at my extensive selection of kilim carpets, cushions and wall hangings from Iran.
