NOW IN PRE-SALES! Running Wild: The Rainier Beer Campaigns 1974-1987

based on the -premiered documentary Rainier: A Beer Odyssey, by Justin Peterson, Rob Peterson, and Isaac M. Olsen

Last fall, while .peterson.photographer’s exhibition was at , had an event at the museum, and we learned about some interesting docs being screened. Little did we know what we were in for.

The absolutely captivated us, bringing back childhood memories of what the Northwest was then, and telling amazing stories about the teams behind these iconic campaigns.

We learned that the guys selling cool sweatshirts from the film were not only the writer / producers, but owners of , a favorite establishment in T-town!

Mutual fandom led to conversations and collaboration. With the incredibly talented Kathleen Cain , one of the brilliant minds at Heckler Associates, on board to write, tons of source material from the film, (now home of much of the original film footage) in support, and a full display of film merch available at …

here we are, 25% to goal to make this book! Thanks to EVERYONE who’s stepped up! let’s keep running wild and get to our goal of 500 copies pre-sold to green light this Northwest history in book form!

Tragedy from Bondi Beach to LA is a lot to absorb in one day. 💔 Also losses in the family, flooding in the region, a time of overabundance and abundant need. Sending light and love, peace and tolerance as these last days of the calendar unfold.

UPCOMING!

We are thrilled to announce that we are in development on a forthcoming FIRST book with , featuring her series Sedimental.

Walter submitted this project to us through and it was love at first review! A perfect balance of humor, intelligence, concept, composition, and a clear mastery of the craft of photography (not to mention some serious sewing skills).

Follow along as we work our way through editing, sequencing and design over the weeks ahead—anticipating a pre-sales launch in spring!

Congratulations Margeaux!

Peace and safe journeys as we move toward the end of the calendar.

If this is a time of gift giving, we thank you for keeping our books in mind. If this is a time for reflection, we look forward to your thoughts on what has passed and what is most present for you.

We proceed into the weeks ahead with remembrance, and with gratitude (and MAYBE with some announcements? stay tuned).

Thanks for engaging with us.

What we’re reading this weekend:

Never Forget (Minor Matters, 2021) by , with additional texts by , , and .rritt.

The design of this limited-edition accordion book incorporates text on the slipcase, and at all four entry points to the book, so the work itself is always held in context.

Grateful to our co-publishers & institutional partners for the existence of this book.

Spending time today with ’s weighty first book, Every Object Has A Ritual. Excerpt from her opening text:

“These were not just ridiculous imitations of sacred ceremonial elements. They were artifacts themselves, objects of a culture that can’t seem to stop flattening Indigenous identities. I had been given a ritual.”

Kearney began this work as part of her thesis at ; we saw it again while we and Selena were participating in the online reviews in 2022. The book released in conjunction with a solo exhibition at .gallery in Seattle in 2023. Selena Kearney completed an MFA through earlier this year.

In 2024 we fulfilled a second major goal with this publication (the first goal being its existence). With the research support of we sent books across the US to K-12 schools still bearing Native mascots.

This book reminds us that we have choices to make in how we respond to our lived experiences. A valuable reminder.

This collection includes photographs and books by Paul Strand, and Aperture co-founders Dorothea Lange and Minor White; ; maggie steber; ; robert Adams, Sally Mann, , , , Aperture/Minor Matters authors and , and Minor Matters authors , , , and Paul Berger.

It will also note editors, designers like Peter Bradford, , .gorman.reiner.design, Wendy Byrne, and separators & printers who added brilliance to books they took part in.

This gift and teaching tool marks a beginning in further research around the making and dissemination of 20th-and early 21st-century photography books. 💚

More to come on this front. In the meantime thanks to those who have supported this journey, incl but not limited to Caryl Baron, Ken & Debbie Baron, , Christine Hult-Lewis, , , , , , and all the inspiring artists.

Good questions, and special thanks to the person in the crowd who reminded us, well, to begin at the beginning with the photography book that preceded We’re All Pros Here. 🤩 Super valuable feedback, we hope there will be future opportunities to demonstrate that we learned from you.

Great to see both books on the signing table and going out the door, that keeps the ecosystem going 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
