That’s a wrap….today was the last experience of .peterson.photographer’s Nirvana at , and the last day of a beautiful, accessible presentation of every Minor Matters book published over the last twelve years as part of this exhibit.

Lots to reflect on from these months of conversations & programs, visits & viewings. With TAM we’re continuing outreach to share this exhibition with audiences in other regions….stay tuned.

When it rains, it POURS!

We’re All Pros Here has also arrived (Nora’s competing with .peterson.photographer ‘s dog Charlotte, we think, for ambassador on this one….though Charlotte gets the one-up with a cameo in the book).

TWO books releasing in the days of summer, especially these days, is a miracle and a gift….🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 to all those who are making books with us. Thank you. And CONGRATS on what we’re making together. 💗💗💗

The Seeing Being Seen exhibition is comprised of fifty books, 77 prints, and an altar installation. Of the 77 prints, FIFTY were gifted by photographers during an era when that was the best possible acknowledgment of meaningful work done together. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

Twelve prints on view, including images by Alfred Stieglitz, Dorothea Lange, Paul Strand, Edward Weston, Swapan Parekh produced as limited editions through , and original prints by Minor White and Paul Caponigro, are not in the book—they came in 2023 from the estate of Caryl and Steve Baron.

The remaining fifteen prints were purchased between 1999-2023, because, as likes to remind us, it’s good to buy art. 😉

The books are equally important, spanning from ‘s State of the Blues in 1998 through , , and .peterson.photographer’s Minor Matters titles released in 2024. Though you can’t touch them (sorry! some of these titles are getting hard to find!) there’s still a lot to see, if you can get to Portland!

A tremendous long weekend celebrating Minor Matters, books, photography and photographers at in Portland!

Fifty-five photographers. Over seventy prints, and over fifty books. A whole lotta love and care on display! 💗🙏🏾💗

Big thanks to the staff, volunteers, board and exhibitions committee of Blue Sky for choosing this and facilitating its presence on the walls. Heartfelt gratitude to the fam, friends, co-publishers, colleagues & strangers who have visited thus far. And as always, to the photographers we’ve worked with, esp. those who have gifted us art that we can now share.

Seeing Being Seen is on view through Saturday, August 2. Gallery hours are 12-5 pm, Wed-Saturday.
