A tremendous long weekend celebrating Minor Matters, books, photography and photographers at in Portland!

Fifty-five photographers. Over seventy prints, and over fifty books. A whole lotta love and care on display! 💗🙏🏾💗

Big thanks to the staff, volunteers, board and exhibitions committee of Blue Sky for choosing this and facilitating its presence on the walls. Heartfelt gratitude to the fam, friends, co-publishers, colleagues & strangers who have visited thus far. And as always, to the photographers we’ve worked with, esp. those who have gifted us art that we can now share.

Seeing Being Seen is on view through Saturday, August 2. Gallery hours are 12-5 pm, Wed-Saturday.

Rest in immense power, Sebastião Salgado—your interest in humanity and the environment, and your indelible photographs in service to those interests, will continue to inspire. We were honored to publish your words in ’s first book Human Nature: Sustainable Farming in the Pacific Northwest, and remain honored that you gave Anna, her series, and us your support and endorsement a decade ago. 🙏🏾 The work lives on.

Michelle here, looking for the positives today.

A little over six months ago .peterson.photographer’s Nirvana opened at (and is still on view!). I think it’s taken me all this time to absorb and fully appreciate the experience of this exhibition, and the metaphorical and literal space it holds.

I took risks to make it authentic to my understanding of Charles’ work, and the histories within which his photography is situated. It includes work by six other artists I deeply respect. All of them, Charles most of all, trusted me to present their work well, and that is a high honor indeed.

Also, we made a darkroom. ALSO: every Minor Matters book published is on display and can be read (there are benches).

When this exhibition travels I will look forward to my colleagues’ interpretations of it. Until then, I will continue to marvel at it here in Tacoma. 🙏🏾💚🙏🏾

’s annual gala is May 3, thank you to for supporting the exhibition and to all who have visited, donated, or become members of the museum because of the exhibit.

Wishing the gallerists, publishers, and patrons fruitful conversations and transactions this final day of ‘s Photography Show 2025.

had a photo booth upstairs, so we got to experience this great view of the scale of the fair (and the Armory!), and recall our joy in publishing the work of NYC Salt members in our extraordinary publication Among Peers (sold out!) generated through the willpower of us, .wendle, and six youth photography programs across the nation who took part. Five master photographers also contributed words and photographs.

Feels fitting to conclude these days of interaction thinking of intergenerational dialogue.
