This is the first time I ever saw Peter Hewitt skate in person. I remember thinking, “it looks like he’s skating in fast-forward”. I had never seen anyone create such momentum. This is 1997. Tony B and I went up to Snow Valley resort to film Darren Navarrette for the Shorty’s Hardware Video. Darren had brought Peter along. That clover was so sick!! I don’t know who built it, but it was a masterpiece. Love steel ramps. A year later we Premiered Fulfill The Dream here. Check out some more footage from this day in the new “B Masters” edit. Part 5. Hiked up to Moguls yesterday. Everything Olson did this day is legendary. I would know. I’ve been skating here since the 80’s. I took some time to scope the spots. The drop in is still so gnar. He did it easy. Everyone was skating and he rocked it out of nowhere. Did it again for the Scott Starr photo. Just flowing. Impromptu skateboarding at its best. Crazy Monk Steve Olson

I came into work today and one of my coworkers put the new issue of Closer on my desk! The Marc Johnson issue! Marc is one my all-time favorite skaters. I got to film him on several occasions. Mostly contests or demos. But one time he was on a session at Willoughby. I’ve been trying to find the tape but haven’t had any luck. Anyway, I’ll never forget it. The clip I was looking for is when he was trying sw front board on the rail. He ended up getting it, but one of the attempts was so crazy. His feet slipped so he ended up sliding down the rail with his heels all the way on the toe edge of the board. Toes pinched together around the rail. He escaped unscathed but totally should have racked going backwards. It was like a magic carpet ride. Kinda hard to explain but I’ll keep looking for the tape. I think the clip may have ended up in the credits of “Oh My God”? There is a little bit of footage of Marc from ‘95 in SKATEBOARD STORIES episode 12. It’s from a demo in Atascadero CA. I’ll put a link in my story today. I didn’t know Marc well, but when I did get to meet him he was nice as could be and smiled at me like we’d been friends for years.
