We had a blast at our 3rd Annual Hanging With Heroes event on Saturday, August 2nd at First & Main Town Center.

The event was full of smiles as children enjoyed inflatables, face painting, and engaging activities from our table sponsors and community heroes. A special touch-a-truck experience, made possible by Complete Care, Colorado Springs Utilities, and the Colorado Springs Fire Department, gave kids the chance to explore up close. And when Wonder Woman, Spider-Man, and Super Elmo arrived, the excitement soared with superhero games and photo ops.

Thinking about leaving your older child in charge at home? Let’s talk about what it really means to be ready to babysit younger children or siblings. In Colorado, age 12 is often used as a guideline—but it’s just a starting point.

Before handing over the responsibility, ask yourself a few key questions:

▫️Can your child take care of themselves and others?

▫️Would they recognize a dangerous situation—and know what to do?

▫️Are they emotionally mature enough to stay calm and be responsible?

If the answer is yes, take the next steps together.

✔️Create a safety plan.
✔️Make sure your child knows who to call in an emergency.
✔️And stay close by, just in case.
