The great thing about JOY is that it's not dependent on your circumstances.
Many people who've known me for a long time say that I'm one of the most joyful people they know.
I love that. I feel that God's joy is my weapon. Joyfulness is what I'm most empowered to impart to others. It's why I show up on this noisy social platform.
But guess what? I don't expect to feel joy or happiness ALL THE TIME! Part of the beauty of both happiness & joy is the way they come out like sunshine after a rain, like spring after a winter.
When my heart is broken, I let myself cry. I don't try to force off sorrow in the name of positivity. (okay, I might consume too many carbs in the name of comfort, but I don't beat myself up over that either!)
I just want you to be kind to yourself. Savor the beauty of the human experience. Relish the luxury of discovering what God means when he says that he's "close to the brokenhearted."
Tapping back into joy is actually a skillset.
It doesn't matter how long it takes. As you agree with God's unconditional love for you, things will change.
As you physically look up, smile, get present, move your body, look for beauty, connect with a friend...you'll feel the shift.
