My baby sister is not only married—she’s FEATURED in Vogue!!! 🖤 She tied the knot on the Summer Solstice in Paris, and it truly could not have been more perfect.

The amazing Felicia from flew all the way to Paris to film for me in both digital and Super 8, so I could be fully present for the day. The teaser edit is by yours truly, . Can’t wait to post more video from this unreal day.

Reflecting back on 2023 is bittersweet. As a family we had so many beautiful moments watching our little guys learn and grow. Going to Disneyland for the first time, our 3 year old starting preschool and turning into a little boy and all the crazy antics of our 2 year old who simultaneously makes me want to rip my hair out and laugh so hard I cry.

From a business perspective, it was rough. 2023 was already a bit slow as covid created a temporary disruption in dating which is now resulting in a lull weddings. Then the fires came and ripped so many life’s apart. We are so fortunate that our home was not affected, but my little business was hit hard. Almost all my weddings for the second half of 2023 were cancelled and it was questionable if it would survive. While my business is still just hanging on by a thread, I’m looking forward to all the beautiful weddings I have booked for 2024. I’m hoping things start to pick up and I’m anxious to see where 2024 will take us.

Thank you to all of my amazing couples for your love, support, and patience these last 5 months as Maui has had to navigate this tragedy. I love and appreciate you all more than words can say.

I’m so fortunate for my amazing little family and friends despite the hardships 2023 brought.

Here’s to hoping 2024 will bring some better days!

Aloha! I’m Shanyn, the face behind the lens and film creator at Portola Studios. I believe that all love is created equally, and I strive to catch every emotion and nuance of your wedding day in a way that allows you to remember it exactly as it was the first time. I love film's ability to capture more than just an image, but also a feeling. There is no other movie you will ever watch quite like your wedding film. Long after the toasts have finished, the sparklers have burned out, and you’ve hand written the millionth thank you note, your wedding film will preserve all of those beautiful moments and memories. A highlight reel of the most wonderful day of your life. A beautiful film tribute starring you and your partner.

My filming style is to be a fly on the wall. I am the quiet counterpart to your photographer who will generally run the show as far as organization and direction goes. My artistic approach lies in finding the unique, authentic moments, in between snapshots, where you’re swept up in excitement and emotion. I’ll catch the silly antics your groomsmen are up to while you’re getting portraits done, the adoring look your new husband gives you while you aren’t paying attention, and the ridiculous dance moves your dad breaks out on the dance floor. This day is all about you, your partner, and your love story. At Portola Studios, we will make every effort to ensure your video is everything you had hoped it would be, and more.
