“You know, it’s always the heavy with Slomatics. And I guess that’s reasonable, since when it comes to the heavy there’s so frickin’ much of it. But listening to Marty Harvey‘s soaring vocals and synth on “Phantom Castle Warning,” the first single from the Belfast trio’s upcoming full-length, Atomicult, the melody stands up to all that surrounding heft more than it ever has. They’re still lumbering out riffs, as the verse will attest, but even that march has reach.”

The band gives us the following insight about the album:

“ ‘Atomicult’ is the second installment in the sequence we began with Strontium Fields. The album is intended as either a meditation on the existential crises the human race is currently facing, or it’s the soundtrack to a train ride, a few beers with friends or a moment of quiet in the home. It’s entirely up to the listener to choose, but in order to aid that choice we employed every tool we have; from burnt out Matamps and frazzled fuzzboxes through to sweet string sections and cosmic Mellotrons. This record represents every aspect of what our band does, and pushes the limits in all departments. We hope you enjoy the ride!”
