It is a couple of weeks to Chinese New Year on Jan 29. At this time of the year, prices of stuff we eat, drink or use would start creeping up. Take for example, the poor man's beverage at the kopitiams, namely kopi-o.

In Penang, there is one kopitiam selling one cup for RM1.00 in Farlim area while another in Pekan Ayer Itam sells their kopi-o for RM1.70. Both taste the same and the cups are similar in size but the price difference is RM0.70. So if one kopitiam can sell their kopi-o for RM1.00 and make a profit, it means the kopitiam selling it for RM1.70 is making excessive profit. Times are hard but there are still kind business people who will not take advantage of customers by using all kinds of excuses to raise prices.

Look at the two photos shown... the kopi in the ceramic cup is RM1.00 while the glass cup is RM1.70. Some humans are just plain greedy.

Nine Emperor Gods Festival started yesterday, 3rd October 2024. The Vegetarian Festival will continue for 9-Days. Roadside stalls have sprouted up all over Penang selling vege dishes.

Hello everyone!
My name is Lucky, and this is my story:
I was thrown away when I was a very young puppy and grew up on a market. My only friend was a cat, and we always eat and played together.
Of course there was not always enough food. So we started to eat some things beside the rubbish bin.
Slowly my health condition became very bad and my belly was getting bloated.
One day a caring lady checked on me, and after a while a pet taxi picked me up and brought me into a hospital.
After the medical checkup i was diagnosed with tick fever, a blood parasite called babesia gibsoni. My spleen was enlarged and mottled under ultrasound which is what causes the bulging belly. They also did a blood test on the red blood cells, and i am having anemia with 21% blood count. They started me on antibiotics and blood supplements.
I was truly scared about this result. But no choice, I had to stay in the hospital.
I was getting slowly better, and then my new mom picked me up and brought me into a shelter.
But even there I had to be in a cage first.
But finally i am out ,and I am lucky to be a reception dog now.
So now you know how I got my name LUCKY.
