My first adventure in mainland Australia has taken me to the most beautiful coastline I’ve ever seen.

Setting off from Melbourne, I rode the Great Ocean Road in 3 long days to Warrnambool.

Besides the famous 12 Apostles, this coastline is full of incredible features, cliffs, and beaches almost the entire way. And every now and then, on the side of the road, some wildlife made the ride even more interesting. I saw echidnas, kangaroos, and even a few koalas 🐨

It’s also much hillier than it might look on the map, so be ready for a fair bit of climbing. If you can, it’s definitely better to ride it during the week and outside the high season to avoid the traffic.

A very short description of my itinerary:

The first day was from Melbourne to Sorrento along the eastern side of Port Phillip Bay, then taking the ferry to Queenscliff to avoid repeating the section through Geelong (where we landed from Tasmania).

The second day was long and hilly along the coast between Torquay and Apollo Bay, followed by an inland section where wildlife is more likely to appear.

The third day was more focused on exploring the most spectacular part of the route, definitely worth getting up early for. There are many tracks that will take you to some of the most beautiful cliffs and beaches you'll ever see! From Warrnambool you can take the train back, which is incredibly cheap (8 AUD), simple, and accepts bikes without any problems.

If anyone is thinking about cycling it and wants more details, feel free to ask me!

After this mini adventure, I’m heading from Melbourne towards Canberra and Sydney through the Australian Alps, where I am right now 🙂

Arguably the most beautiful coastal road in the world, and not just because of the famous 12 Apostles, but because of all the cliffs, beaches, and features along this coastline.
Visiting it by bike early in the morning before everyone else arrived was amazing!

After an incredible year cycling around the world together with , I still feel like exploring a little further. So I have decided to keep traveling for a few more weeks before heading home, this time on my own alongside the little kea Rebecca got me 🦜 it still doesn't have a name, so drop your suggestions in the comments!

Even though I have often said how much I love this lifestyle and how amazing it would be to keep doing it forever, it means so much more to me when it’s shared with the people you love. But now that I’ve made it to the other side of the world, I’d like to keep exploring just a little longer before heading back to Spain and Austria. It’s still too cold in Europe 😜

I’ll be sharing some content I haven’t posted yet from the past couple of months, as well as from this little solo adventure. Stay tuned!
