Former BBC East Midlands Today newsman John Hess is no stranger to reporting on election campaigns. But now, for the first time, he is to be a candidate.

The Radcliffe on Trent Branch of the Labour Party have selected John Hess as their candidate for the forthcoming County Council election. John has already been busy and his campaign can be followed on his page "John Hess for Radcliffe on Trent". John will be a familiar face to those who watch East Midlands Today on the BBC.

If you're interested in keeping the NHS in public hands you may be interested in the following from Mike Scott.

Hello KONP Supporter – as you know, there will be a General Election later this year and Keep Our NHS Public will be doing everything we can to push the NHS to the top of everyone’s priority list!

Nottingham/Notts KONP is in the process of setting up an Election Working Group, which will plan what we do and how we do it. The group will meet separately from either our branch Steering Group or our regular monthly meetings, but will report back to both.

We are looking for volunteers to join the Working Group which will meet as often as is necessary, on Zoom or face to face if necessary. If you’ve got the time, the skills and the commitment to work with us from now until the election takes place, please get back to me as soon as possible – we’re anxious to make a start in the next few weeks, so we don’t get caught napping!

Hello all - I hope you’re all enjoying the Christmas preparation!

Just a bit of an appeal from me please…

Many of you know we’re hosting Kate and her daughter Aina from Ukraine. They’ve been with us just over four months now and their placement with us comes to an end in mid-February. Ideally we are looking for them to be placed in another home in Radcliffe on Trent (for another 6 months) as Kate has just got a job at Cafe Piano (hurray!) and Aina is at the Junior school here.

If anyone is interested in finding out more about the UK hosting program or can think of anyone who might be willing to host in Radcliffe please can you get in touch with me?
