REGGAE FOR A REASON
Reggae For A Reason is the founding initiative of Sacred I, a nonprofit rooted in creativity, community upliftment, and compassionate action. While Sacred I supports a range of holistic, artistic, and cultural projects, Reggae For A Reason was the spark that ignited the organization—born from a deep desire to give back to the reggae community that has given so much to the world. This initiative was created to provide emergency financial assistance to full-time reggae musicians who are unable to perform due to illness, hospitalization, or other unforeseen hardships. With no formal unemployment safety net for these artists, Reggae For A Reason fills a critical gap with dignity and care.
Spearheaded by Sacred I’s Vice President, Scotty Fraser, Reggae For A Reason was inspired by the life-changing impact reggae music has had on him personally. His vision was to create a ripple effect of support within the artist community—especially during times when the rhythm of life is disrupted. In cases where a reggae musician passes away, whether full-time or part-time, this initiative also helps families with funeral or memorial expenses, recognizing the spiritual and cultural value of these artists beyond the stage. But the mission doesn’t stop at crisis response. Reggae For A Reason also invests in the future of reggae music by collaborating with organizations that provide instruments to underserved youth. We expand on these efforts by facilitating access to reggae-specific music lessons, mentorships, and hands-on learning. Additionally, we support institutions and schools with Jamaican music and reggae studies programs, offering funding for curriculum development, cultural immersion trips to Jamaica, and staffing support—ensuring that the legacy of reggae remains vibrant, global, and accessible.
