PRESS RELEASE - Peter Obi:
"Yesterday morning, after a condolence visit to the family of the late Awujale of Ijebuland in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, I tried to be in Daura, Katsina State to attend the burial of our late President Muhammadu Buhari, but all my efforts proved abortive, due to the logistical challenge beyond my control.

I immediately sent a message to a member of late President Buhari’s family explaining my situation. He graciously replied that it was quite understandable, and I made a promise to come today.

Today, accompanied by Senators Ireti Kingibe, Okey Ezea, and Obidient National Coordinator Dr. Tanko Yunusa, I was in Daura with Vice President Shettima, Former Vice President Atiku, Senate President Akpabio, Governor Radda of Katsina, Governor Zulum of Borno State, and many other dignitaries, to pay our last respects to the late President Muhammadu Buhari and to console his family.

I recall vividly meeting with President Buhari in 2022 during my campaign. He said to me: “Peter, you seem to be everywhere and loved by the people. And I wish you the best, please, if you win, do not forget the poor.”

That moment has been the thought I have had since the news of his demise. His concern for the poor should remain a reminder to us all.

May the Almighty God, who has called both our late President and the Awujale of Ijebuland to eternal rest, grant them peace, and comfort their families and indeed our dear nation, as their passing is a deep loss to Nigeria. May their legacies of service and dignity never be forgotten.

Twice - Nigerians Celebrated The Death Of A President:

In June 1998, when the death of a Dictator, Ex-President Sani Abacha was announced, many Nigerians trooped out on the streets, to dance, drink and have merriment.

And on the night of July 13th, 2025, after the death of another Ex-President, Buhari, was officially announced, massive crowd storm streets Kaduna State, and surprisingly in Buhari's Katsina State, celebrating, and chanting in Hausa "Buhari ya mutu".

When YarAdua died, People mourned him. People were sad. He was seen as a genuinely honest leader that will be missed. The Nation was sad.

"There's a time in the life of every man", says Shakespeare.

Nigeria, past and current, have been cursed by having bunches of heartless leaders at the helm of affairs! Their collective joy is seeing Nigerians suffer, while they loot our commonwealth.

Will the death of Buhari and street celebrations that followed it serve as a lesson to those in power today?? Only time will tell!!
Every dog has it's day!!

Anglican Church Bans Politicians from Pulpit:

After Wike’s Thanksgiving rant, Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, has issued a directive banning politicians and government officials from speaking on its podiums during worship services. The decision comes just a week after FCT Minister Nyesom Wike held a high-profile thanksgiving at St James’ Anglican Church, Asokoro, where he used the opportunity to take swipes at his political rivals.

In a memo signed by the Primate, Most Revd Dr Henry Ndukuba, and announced during the Episcopal Consultation in the Diocese of Nike, Enugu, the Church emphasized its commitment to maintaining political neutrality and safeguarding its spiritual integrity.

The leadership cited rising concerns over the politicisation of religious gatherings, warning that such trends could compromise the Church’s values and divine mission.

Additionally, Church leaders have been barred from openly praising or glorifying political figures in ways that may tarnish the Church’s image. The directive stressed that politicians and public officials must be clearly informed that the Church is not a platform for partisan rhetoric or political promotion.

"Church leaders and officiants must refrain from making statements or behaving in ways that could be construed as politically aligned or sectional," the memo added.
The Church further stressed that no guest should be allowed to speak from the lectern, which has been set aside for the reading of God's Word. However, it clarified that politicians and government officials are still welcome to attend services and Church proarammes.

"The Church remains committed, under God, to being the light of the world and the salt of the earth," the memo read, referencing Matthew 5:13-14.
