A driven Freelance Director of Photography and Media Production Specialist with 20 years industry experience.
Welcome to my page; I am a freelance Director of Photography (DoP) based in Yorkshire, operating throughout the UK and overseas. I have 12 years of experience in the industry and since finishing my masters degree in 2010, what was a part time job (and hobby) formed into a career, as I worked my way up through the racks of the camera department. Now I work as a Director of Photography with
a real passion for cinematography and storytelling, working on a range of productions including fiction, documentary, promos and corporate films. I personally take pride in my kit, designed to provide a bespoke service and shooting package to productions, details of which can be found on my website. Further, if your production requires additional equipment I have great relationships with local rental houses to ensure we have everything required. In 2016 I was selected to be part of BAFTA Crew, a professional network and masterclass programme, designed to connect emerging ‘below the line’ talent to BAFTA-winners and nominees. Back in August, I had a blast shooting the intro film for Dragged to the Musicals for D3 Productions Ltd. with Divina De Campo.
Directed & Edited by Adam Marsden, we turned a small office into a makeshift studio, bringing the magic of 'backstage' to the big screen!
The show has just finished it's sell out run with critical acclaim!

And here’s the shoot! A great shoot this week working with La Vie de Clauds and Adam Marsden working on a new series of personal stories.
Claudia wanted to keep the interview setup clean and simple so the focus is on the person and their story. To do this we made use of a photographic background in keeping with Claudias brand colours.
We made use of my Sony FX9 and A7IV camera kits with Sigma Art primes and zooms. For lighting we used an impromptu book light with unbleached muslin which worked very well, along with a warm kick and cool backlight. We made use of the SmallRig teleprompter with a FaceTime call to get the “down the lens” look and so both Adam and Claudia could appear to the interviewee if needed.
Our interviews ran around 2 hours each, with some really personal and touching moments. I can’t wait to see how this short series turns out and I’ll be sure to share when it launches!

Testing is all part of the job!
I wanted to try out the setup I’ll be using next week on a brand new series of films.
Telling personal stories requires a personal approach, and empathetic lighting too!
Doing this sort of ‘previs’ ahead of the shoot can not only save time on set, it can also allow me to iron out any kinks with kit and make sure everything is ready to go!

Great shoot with Paradigm Creative at St George’s Hall in Bradford last week.
Working with a cracking team of operators and tech pros to bring the live action of a heated debate to a small screen near you soon!
Shooting on 11 FX6 cameras with a range of Sony lenses and a polecam for good measure!
The last time I worked at St George’s Hall was in 2004 at the young age of 15, filming a studio recording for Black D**e Band the weekend before my GCSE Science exam!
Amazing how much tech has changed since then and how much grey hair I have now!
