Summary of the Court Ruling in the 4th Session:
1. Two members of Dr. Riek Machar’s defense team, Warnyang Kir Warnyang and Deng John Deng, were expelled from the court after it was established that they lacked valid licenses to practice law.
2. The Court affirmed that it has full jurisdiction and competence to hear the case involving Dr. Riek Machar Teny, Puot Kang, and six other accused persons.
3. The Court upheld the participation of private lawyers, including Ajo Joel Ohisa, to continue working alongside the prosecution team.
4. On the question of immunity, the Court ruled that Dr. Riek Machar is not entitled to constitutional immunity under Article 103, which only applies to the President.
This means that all objections raised by the Defence Team have been rejected, while one objection raised by the Prosecution Team has been upheld.
