ALERT FLORIDA!

Forecast models are predicting a MAJOR RAINMAKER next week from Tampa to Fort Myers to Miami to Jupiter! The latest GFS has Tampa getting smacked by double digit tropical rainfall. This would cause more major flooding for already hard-hit areas from Helene!

Latest models are trending down on an organized tropical cyclone, but do show a prolonged heavy rain / flooding events with a persistent area of elongated spin!

The latest global model ensembles are showing a slower development of a tropical system from the Central American Gyre or CAG pattern with EPS ensemble members showing a likely tropical cyclone or hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico early next week. There is a lot of forecast model spread with this next system, so be sure to stay tuned to the latest. I will be doing a live briefing later today on this threat once the new model ensemble runs are in.

The bottom line is that a hurricane taking the exact track as Helene is VERY UNLIKELY especially with the completely different upper-level pattern/
