I am pleased to announce the formation of a music label called Long Note Records that will facilitate musicians in releasing and realizing their projects. There are already two releases in the pipeline: Anti-Elevator Mission, a jazz group from Manhattan led by Danny Zanker, and Jamaica Ashe, a ska/rock band who recorded an album to document their sound in the heyday of the ska/punk scene. e is not my first or only record label, so it will focus on collaborative music and showcasing the talents of local and lesser-known musicians. Our first call is to all local musicians to submit your original songs to be included in the compilation Long Note Records Presents: Long Island Sounds, Volume 1. This will be a series of compilations, so keep working on music; tell your friends and everyone you know who plays music to send their original songs for possible inclusion. Everyone is encouraged to work together to help each other make their songs. In the musical community there is no competition, only comrades!
