September 11th comes around once a year and after all these years it is one of the saddest days of my life. How brave our first responders were. As a group, as a team, and as brotherhood. They didn't flinch! I witnessed it first hand and will never forget what our first responders did that day.

I went to 19 funerals after 9-11 and cried at everyone of them. I guess for as long as I live I will never forget. I won't allow myself to forget. That day is burnt into my memory. Rest easy.....

OLD FDNY RIGS!

I wanted to post this video of a collection of photos of old FDNY rigs. I have had this in my collections for a while now and figured I would share it! They are of Queens, Brooklyn and Staten Island and you we see the engine companies first, then the ladder companies!

They are in order and the rigs were when the FDNY were fighting the War Years! Enjoy!

LONG BEACH 6-12-26

The Long Beach fire department responded to 631 E. Park Ave for a report of an electrical fire in the basement. When the Chief arrived, a working fire was transmitted. Long Beach Engine 2343 was in first and moved the line into the basement. Long Beach Ladder's 2372, 2362 and Point Lookout-Lido Ladder 254 all took the front of the building. The fire was quickly knocked down, and all units were up within 1 1/2 hours.

FREEPORT 6-11-26

The Freeport fire department responded to a report of a garage fire located on Long Beach Ave just off of Merrick Road. The first unit on scene confirmed the working fire and E216 pulled into the block and pushed the line to the fire. Ladder 217 positioned the truck near the front of the building. Water was put on the fire, and it was knocked down quickly!

All fire department operations were under the command of Chief Burkart.

FREEPORT 6-10-26

The Freeport fire department responded to a report of a garage fire located at 40 Porterfield Place. The Chief reported it to be a working car fire inside the garage with no extention. Engine 216 was in first and pushed the line to the fire. Truck 217 took the front as the fire was quickly knocked down. All fire department operations were under the direction of Chief Burkart.

OCEANSIDE TRAILER FIRE 6-2-26

The Oceanside fire department was dispatched to 3400 Lawson Blvd for a report of a trailer fire. When the 1st arriving, Chief was on scene he confirmed the working fire. When Chief Lynch got there, it was upgraded to a signal-10. Two trailers were burning as the fire communicated to the building. Several lines were put in service and Long Beach Ladder 2372 went into a master stream operation. The fire was brought under control, and all units were up after 2 hours.
Oceanside's Chief Lynch, Klein and Sparberg were all on scene.

POINT LOOKOUT-LIDO 5-31-26

The Point Lookout-Lido fire department trained with the Nassau County Police Air Bureau at Nickerson Beach. Just a few of the things that were discussed were Helicopter approach at landing sites, patient transfer into helicopter and drone hazards at landing sites etc. The training lasted for 1 1/2 hours.

FREEPORT CAR IN WATER 5-29-26

The Freeport fire department responded to a report of a car into the water located at the Milburn Creek boat ramp off Atlantic ave. All units responding were notified that no one was in the auto. The driver was using the ramp and forgot the truck was in neutral. The truck company stood by and assisted with the removal of the truck. All units were up after 1 1/2 hours.

FREEPORT 5-29-26

The Freeport fire department responded to 35 W Seaman Ave for black smoke coming from the window. When the 1st unit arrived, it was confirmed as a working house fire. E216 pulled into the block and pushed the line into the house. Truck 218 took the front of the house. With a quick knock down the rest of the house was saved from further damage. All units were up with 2 hours.
