BALDWIN 6-26-25

The Baldwin fire department responded to 700 Merrick road for smoke in the building. Chief Douglas Eberhart transmitted a working fire as Engines 201 and 202 arrived at the scene. L206 took the front of the building as fire operations began. Heavy fire was located in the apartment and reports came in that it made its way into the cockloft. A request was transmitted for a large scale mutual Aid response to the scene and standby.

No reports of injuries to the resident but, 150 people were displaced. The fire was under control within 3 hours.

OCEANSIDE 6-27-25

At 4:40 this afternoon the department was alerted for a report of a house fire on Evans Avenue. Upon the arrival of Assistant Chief Klein he reported the fire was venting out two windows from the first floor of the house. Engine 246 and Ladder 2442 were in first and an aggressive interior attack was mounted with Assistant Chief Sparberg as the fire sector Chief.

Mutual aid truck companies from Long Beach, East Rockaway and Baldwin responded to the scene and standby units from Baldwin, Long Beach, Rockville Centre and Lynbrook stood by at OFD headquarters. All OFD operations were under the command of First Assistant Chief Sean Lynch.

OCEANSIDE 5-16-25

The Oceanside fire department responded to a report of a car fire at the corners of Freedman Ave & Woodward Street. When 1st Asst Chief Sean Lynch arrived he confirmed a working car fire. Terrace Hose 2482 pulled in 1st and pushed the line. Hose 2472 came in next. The fire was quickly knocked down and all units were up within a 1/2 hour.
