Unlit Vistas Unlit Vistas Limited is an independent New Zealand film production company founded in 2008 by Sherryn Matthews and Bill Hunt.

Unlit Vistas was founded by Sherryn Matthews and veteran special makeup effects artist Bill Hunt as a response to not only the kinds of films being made, but HOW they are being made. The crew is comprised of people with a passionate love and respect of film. This professional creative team brings a fresh level of energy and enthusiasm necessary to making truly innovative cinema. Co-produced with ApeOnAWhale Productions, it was shot in 8 days with a total budget of US$4,700. It is Bill Hunt's feature directorial debut. Amidst all of the excitement of the last month, I didn’t even have time to say Happy 10th Anniversary to our little-movie-that-could, FUNDAMENTAL! Released on Halloween 2012, this warts-and-all glorified 48 hour film was my directorial debut and the first feature film from Unlit Vistas and our friends ApeOnAWhale. An incredible team of volunteers pulled together to help us make this self-funded film, completely independently of the Weta/NZ film system. Shot in 8 days for less than $5000, it is what it is. There’s nothing like on-the-job training so I’m sure our next one will be better, but for the time being, I have satisfied that “I wanna make a movie” itch. Thank you once more to all of the amazing people involved- there’s a lot here for us all to be really proud of! :D
