1. Finna = Going to
➡️ I'm finna eat. = I'm going to eat.

2. Wanna = Want to
➡️ You wanna come? = Do you want to come?

3. Ain’t = Is not / Are not / Has not / Have not
➡️ He ain’t here. = He is not here.

4. Lit = Fun, exciting, or amazing
➡️ The party was lit! = The party was really fun!

5. Cap / No Cap = Lie / No lie (truth)
➡️ He cappin’. = He’s lying.
➡️ No cap, she fine. = Honestly, she’s beautiful.

6. Deadass = Seriously / I’m not joking
➡️ Deadass, I need sleep. = Seriously, I need sleep.

7. Bae = Babe / My partner
➡️ Where my bae at? = Where is my boyfriend/girlfriend?

8. On God = I swear / For real
➡️ On God, I didn’t do it. = I swear I didn’t do it.

9. Sus = Suspicious or shady
➡️ That dude’s sus. = That guy is acting suspicious.

10. Stay woke = Be aware, especially of social injustice
➡️ Stay woke about what’s really going on. = Be aware of what’s happening around you.

11. Y’all = You all
➡️ Y’all coming? = Are you all coming?

12. Trippin’ = Acting crazy or overreacting
➡️ She trippin’ for no reason. = She’s overreacting for no reason.

13. Bruh = Bro / Dude
➡️ Bruh, that’s wild. = Dude, that’s crazy.

14. Throwin’ shade = Making subtle insults
➡️ She throwin’ shade at her ex. = She’s indirectly insulting her ex.

15. Glow up = Transformation for the better (esp. looks)
➡️ He had a major glow up. = He looks way better now

Boujee
Adjective - Rich, luxurious, special, fancy.

Example: “She’s so boujee with that Louis Vuitton bag.”

Bussin’
Adjective - Amazing, really good.

Example: “Those potato chips are bussin’.”

Drip
Adjective - Stylish, sophisticated clothes or appearance.

Example: “Li’s shoes and belt are dripping today.”

Extra
Adjective - Dramatic, attention-grabbing, too much.

Example: “You don’t have to be so extra about it!”

Rent-free
Adverb - To become an obsession, to dominate someone’s thoughts.

Example: “Since I saw Shang-Chi, Simu Liu is living rent-free inside my head.”

Salty
Adverb - To overreact.

Example: “He got so salty after I didn’t text back right away.”

Shook
Adjective - Stunned, shocked.

Example: “That last question on the final has me shook.”

Vibe check
Verb - To make sure someone is having a good time.

Example: Sanjit: “Hey, Amir, vibe check!”

Amir: “All good.”

Woke
Adjective - Socially conscious, culturally aware.

Example: “After his Modern Perspectives in Poetry course, he became woke to different points of view.”
