We recently teamed up with director Sam French to create a three part series for Hyundai's ride sharing app Mocean (ad agency: Media Monks/Circus). The first was a profile piece of the Hot and Cool Cafe in Leimert Park. Get their soul bowl next time you are in that part of town. Looking Forward: A Collaborative Short Film on Life in the Age of Covid-19

A few weeks back, we asked our friends and colleagues to send us a few clips that documented their experience during this pandemic. Excited to share the end result of this global collaboration. We look forward to seeing all of you out in the world soon!!

Also received feedback that some of the higher end gear is in storage etc. So please, by all means, feel free to use tools at hand if the bigger guns are out of reach. To Our Esteemed Friends and Colleagues,

First off, we hope this message finds you and yours safe and healthy!

We are getting a little restless here at Official and have been thinking of ways to create something that uses our medium to express our collective experience during this time.

We have landed on a concept that is quite simple in scope but will capture the myriad of ways we are experiencing this pandemic. However, it is dependent on tapping our global network of filmmakers who own and operate their own equipment. We are looking for high production value imagery that uses your unique skills sets. That said, we've also seen a lot of great footage from iPhones or similar if the larger cameras are out of reach.

We would so love and appreciate it if you could participate!

THE MISSION:
Take whatever camera format you own and capture a single video or limited group of shots (3-5) that captures a single moment in your day that visually expresses your experience during this global pandemic. Upload this shot (or shots) to the provided dropbox link with your full name and location in the file names. Note: We would like live action shots not still photography. Clarification: In regard to a single shot vs multiple, we are absolutely open to multiple shots using varied focal lengths and/or angles on the same scene or "moment". Varied frame rates also fine!

We will take these submissions and create a single edited piece that highlights these moments from around the world. Your names and locations will be featured prominently in the final piece.

We purposefully kept this objective broad because we are all experiencing this in our own unique way. You can turn the camera outward on a walk, or choose to turn it inward to give a glimpse into your home life during this time. Here are a few shots that came to mind:

1. Every day around sunset in the Los Feliz neighborhood of LA, dozens of people come out with their masks and walk down a specific street. Since they are avoiding contact, they stay clear of the sidewalk and walk down the middle of the street with their families, dogs, etc. Our plan is to set up a camera on a longer lens and shoot down the length of the street so all this activity is compressed in a single frame.

2. Many of you are spending more time with your families. It could simply be a few beautifully composed shots of your family playing a board game, or a partner taking the off time to learn an instrument, preparing a home cooked meal, out on a hike, etc.

3. A local movie theater has replaced its normal movie titles on the marquee with inspiring quotes of perseverance from classic movies

4. In LA, there are plenty of opportunities to capture eerie compositions of freeways devoid of traffic, etc. Any similar shots in your area of the world?

This is all about capturing a single moment that speaks to your experience during this time.

WHAT MAKES THIS DIFFERENT:
In a world flooded with low resolution zoom conversations and cell phone coverage, we are purposefully asking working professionals who own and operate professional camera formats. Looking for artful compositions, beautiful framing, etc.

THE GOAL:
This is a concept that will show a wide range of slices of life from a global network of filmmakers. It will also function as a clear message that we are all alive, kickin', and eager to hop back into the industry that we know and love.

DEADLINE:
To keep this timely we ask that you submit your shots by May 1st

Food Interrupted Series Teaser

Last year we partnered with Soul Pancake, Participant Media, and Panera to produce a digital series called Food Interrupted. The six episodes placed celebrity chefs with everyday heroes on the frontlines of changing the way we think about food. Today we found out that the series was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award! Congrats to the entire team!
