🇵🇭 The Philippines Was Bought, Not Conquered

Most people think the U.S. conquered the Philippines.
But here’s the real story:

✔ Spain sold the Philippines to the United States for $20 million

This happened in the Treaty of Paris on December 10, 1898.

✔ Filipinos had already declared independence

June 12, 1898.
But we were not invited, consulted, or recognized in the treaty.

✔ Refusal to be “transferred” sparked a war

The Philippine American War (1899–1902) broke out because Filipinos resisted U.S. rule.

Bought on paper. Fought in reality.

✨ When Blue Lanterns Light Up Manila’s Heritage & Hope

Just this May 28, 2025, innovative climate art lit up Manila’s historic streets! The “Blue Lanterns” installation—created through a Philippines-France partnership and in collaboration with Liter of Light—features over a thousand eco-friendly solar lanterns made from recycled, durable materials.

Now illuminating Fort Santiago in Intramuros, it stands as a glowing symbol of collective hope for ocean conservation and climate action. 🌏💡

When Trash Transforms into Art: Meet Bangkang Dahon
In Koronadal City, local artists and the city’s Environment Office have turned discarded plastics, bottles, and other recycled materials into a stunning public sculpture called “Bangkang Dahon.” Situated near Blok Creek, this eco-art installation sparks conversations on sustainability and creativity—and has quickly become a beloved photo spot for both locals and tourists.

Louise Mabulo is growing hope back in Camarines Sur! At just 20, she started an agroforestry project that’s already transformed 150 hectares with over 150,000 cacao and staple trees, restoring water sources, teaching 200 local farmers, and showing that sustainable farming can rebuild communities. Let’s celebrate how one farmer’s vision is planting a greener, brighter Philippines!
