Kesteven Road, Holmewood, Bradford
Domestic Property - Proved to be a shed fire which had spread to the rear of a domestic dwelling, the fire involved 2 homes in a range of terraced properties. The rear of the home and the rear garden were well alight when crews arrived and 5 pumps and an Aerial Ladder were required to attend to assist tackling the fire. There have been no reported injuries at the scene with Gas and electric services attending to isolate supplies. I understand that fire crews used 2 Large jets, 2 Hosereels and 6 Breathing apparatus sets whilst dealing with the fire with an aerial appliance also being used. The fire is currently under investigation.
Appliances from Bradford (2), Odsal, Fairweather Green, Spen Valley, Huddersfield (Aerial Ladder Platform) and Rastrick (ALP Support).

Fire in Open - Proved to be a large grass fire which was well alight around Castle Hill and was a MP x 6 incident. Smoke could be seen from a distance away and appliances are struggling with water supplies at present. Fire crews had to ferry water from nearby hydrants to the incident where 6 Hosereel jets, Landrover with fogging unit and Argo cat vehicle was used. The fire is now under control with some crews being released from the incident. There have been no injuries with Police supporting crews with traffic control.
Appliances from Slaithwaite, Huddersfield (2), Rastrick, Dewsbury and Meltham, Holmfirth, Mirfield (Hose Layer and Support Pump) and a Welfare Unit from Skelmanthorpe.

Water Rescue - Proved to be a false alarm good intent with no persons being located in trouble in the water.
Appliances from Stanningley and Leeds (2) attended along with Senior officer.

Police Statement

West Yorkshire Police is continuing to work with West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service in investigating following an explosion at a property on Coventry Street, Halifax, in the early hours of yesterday morning (Thursday, 26 June).

Two adult males who were taken to hospital with serious injuries remain in hospital in a critical condition.

Detective Chief Inspector Clare Smith said: “We understand that there will be speculation in the community about what has happened and the cause of this explosion.

“We can confirm that a large number of butane gas cannisters were found in the property and these form part of our ongoing enquiries.

“We are working alongside specialist fire investigators to ensure a comprehensive investigation is carried out into this incident.”
